Forgotten Overview

Forgotten is a five-reel, three-row horror slot from BGaming with 10 paylines, an RTP of 96.89%, a high volatility rating and a maximum win of 7,500x the bet. It was released on 29 October 2024, with stakes from 0.10 to 34.

Underneath the ghost story it is a classic “Book of” game: a single symbol acts as both wild and scatter, three of them open a free spins round, and one randomly chosen symbol expands across whole reels to pay on every line.

Theme and Graphics

The story is set in an abandoned family home. The base game plays out against a weathered wooden fence and a dark yard, with the reels hanging like cells of a grey window frame. When the bonus starts the scene moves inside, to shelves in a dusty attic lit by a single lantern, where a small boy sits reading by the light.

The symbols are the house’s forgotten toys: a doll in a pink dress, a baby doll, a stitched teddy bear, a green plush rabbit, a stacking ring tower, a toy car, a spinning top, a wooden block and a ball. The wild-scatter is a black leather diary with gold corners.

The bonus announcement is the most striking piece of art in the game: an open sketchbook with a clawed creature bursting through a window on one page and a pencil drawing of the chosen toy on the other.

Reels and Paylines

The grid is a standard 5x3 with 10 fixed paylines. The lines screen shows the familiar Book-of layout: the three straight rows, two V shapes, and five zig-zag patterns that dip or climb through the middle row. Lines pay left to right from the first reel.

Ten lines is a small number for a modern slot, and it is deliberate. With so few lines, an ordinary base-game win tends to be small, and the design leaves room for the expanding symbol to do the heavy lifting in the bonus.

The Paytable

The paytable prints its values as multiples of the line bet. At a 4.00 total bet (0.40 per line) the tiers are:

The doll in the pink dress pays 5,000, 1,000, 100 and 10 for five, four, three and two. The baby doll pays 2,000, 400, 40 and 5. The teddy bear and the plush rabbit pay 750, 100, 30 and 5.

The ring tower and the toy car pay 150, 40 and 5, and the top, the block and the ball pay 100, 20 and 5. Only the four premium symbols pay for two of a kind.

Converted to the total bet, five pink dolls on a single line return 500x. The real ceiling of 7,500x only comes into reach when an expanded symbol pays on all ten lines at once, which is exactly what the free spins are built to do.

The spread between the top and bottom of the table is wide. The pink doll is worth fifty times as much as the three cheapest toys for five of a kind, so the identity of the symbol that lands matters far more here than in games with a flatter paytable.

The Book: Wild and Scatter

The diary substitutes for every other symbol and, in the usual Book-of fashion, also scatters. In the base game it helps complete ordinary lines; our first capture shows a line win of 5.00 on line 8 at a 10.00 bet, built around the book on the first reel.

Three or more books anywhere on the reels trigger the bonus. One of our spins landed three of them across the middle and bottom rows, with the wins counted up to 21.99 before the round began.

A second base-game capture at the same 10.00 bet shows a 15.00 win built on the middle row, with the baby doll and a wooden block among the symbols on screen. Results of 0.5x to 1.5x like these are typical of what the reels return between bonuses.

The book then opens on the sketchbook screen: 10 free spins with an expanding symbol. One toy is picked at random – in our round, the toy car – and for the rest of the feature it expands to fill every reel on which it lands, provided enough of them appear to form a win.

Note how the maths of the feature works in the player’s favour on a full screen. The expanding car is a mid-tier symbol, paying only 150 for five on a normal line, yet by covering four reels and paying ten lines it returned 40x the bet on a single spin. An expanded pink doll across all five reels would pay 5,000 times the line bet on every one of the ten lines, which is where the 7,500x ceiling becomes believable.
