Reel of Ra is BGaming’s trip to the Nile, and it is one of the better-looking Egyptian slots of the year. The reels are set inside a sandstone temple gate, framed by two carved columns painted in faded turquoise and gold, with a winged sun disc mounted on the lintel above. Behind all of it the landscape opens out: a pair of weathered pyramids on the left, a bend of the river with green banks running through the middle, and pale desert stretching away under a clear sky.

Super Piggy Inferno is Platipus taking its treasure-hunting pigs somewhere considerably warmer. The reels sit in a volcanic cavern, walled in by black basalt columns and lit from below by a river of molten rock that glows orange along the bottom of the screen. The palette is almost entirely red, gold and black, the logo above the grid is set in flaming yellow letters, and the whole thing has the cheerful, cartoonish menace of a Saturday-morning underworld rather than anything genuinely sinister.
