Features we found: free spins, bonus buy, multiplier, hold and win
Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Our editors can adjust a score after playing the game. Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

Grand Patron OverviewGrand Patron is a crime-themed slot from BGaming, released on 8 July 2024. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 fixed paylines, and its twist sits above and below the grid: two extra horizontal reels that reveal one symbol each on every spin and decide what happens to the main reels. BGaming lists an RTP of 96.67% and a maximum multiplier of 10,000x the bet, capped at €250,000. Its own page describes the volatility as Low-High, while SlotCatalog files the game under high volatility. The in-game title reads “Grand Patron Change&Chance”. The numbers below come from our demo session, played at a FUN 10 base bet. A Prison Yard in the JungleThe reels sit inside a jail block surrounded by palm trees, watchtowers and a small airfield, with barred cells forming the two extra reels at the top and the bottom. The symbols are a cast of cartel figures – a boss in a red shirt, a man in a blue suit, a bald enforcer, a bearded gunman and a man in green – plus the tools of the trade: bundles of cash, a box of cigars, a pistol, an old mobile phone and a cannabis leaf. A WILD symbol and a gold police badge marked “BONUS” complete the set. The badge is the scatter, and it only matters when it lands on the extra reels. The PaytableAt a FUN 10 bet the boss in red pays 250.00 for five, 100.00 for four and 50.00 for three – 25x the stake for a full line. The man in blue pays 200/75/25, the bald enforcer 125/50/12.50, the bearded gunman 75/37.50/10 and the man in green 50/25/7.50. The objects pay less: the cash bundles 30/9/5, the cigar box 25/8/4, the pistol 20/7/3, the phone 15/6/2 and the leaf 10/5/1. With 20 lines, a spin that lines up several of the character symbols can add up quickly even before any feature joins in. The Two Extra ReelsEvery spin, the top and bottom reels each reveal one random symbol, and the pair decides a bonus effect for that spin. BGaming describes four of them: Win Multipliers – a multiplier on one extra reel and a paytable symbol on the other multiply every win with that symbol. Prison – a prison symbol plus a paytable symbol locks that symbol on the reels for a respin. Bombastic – matching symbols explode at the end of the spin. Spawner – the same wild or regular symbol on both extra reels adds three more of it to the main reels. All Wins x6We saw the multiplier effect in action. Both extra reels showed an “ALL WINS x6” panel, and the spin paid FUN 450.00, with line 1 alone worth 225.00. The main reels held a row of bald enforcers and a wild on the middle line, so a win that would have been modest on its own became a large one. That spin was played with the Chance option switched on, which raised the total bet to FUN 13.00. Measured against it, the spin returned about 35x. Change & ChanceThe panel on the left offers “2x chance to win a bonus” for FUN 13.00 instead of 10.00 – a 30% surcharge that doubles the odds of the scatters landing. SlotCatalog lists it as a Bonus Bet. It is also the “Chance” in the in-game title. Free SpinsIn our session the free spins arrived on a spin where both extra reels showed the gold BONUS badge at the same time. The main reels behind them held a full column of the boss in red on reel 1, three leaves on reel 2, a pair of bald enforcers in the middle and another column of bosses on reel 5 – but once both badges were in place, the line wins mattered less than the award screen that followed: “You have won 12 free spins”. Because the trigger depends on the two extra reels rather than on scatters spread across the grid, the Chance option has a clear job: it raises the odds of those two badges lining up. Two BONUS badges on the extra reels trigger the free spins, and BGaming awards 12 spins in the standard version. During the round the extra reels keep working: in our captures a wild appeared on the top reel next to a character symbol, and a wild on the bottom reel next to a pistol. Midway through the round the counter stood at 7 of 12 spins with FUN 63 won; the next spin added 78.00 and took the total to 141.00. Three Ways to Buy the BonusThe Buy screen offers three versions of the feature. At a FUN 10 bet the prices were: Wanted – 12 free spins for FUN 1,000 (100x). Outlaw – 13 free spins with prison and symbol from the first spin for FUN 2,500 (250x). Highly Dangerous – 13 free spins with prison and prison from the first spin for FUN 10,000 (1,000x). We bought the Wanted version. The balance fell from FUN 1,316 to 316, and the round finished with FUN 231 – 23.1x the stake, well under the price. The dearer versions start with locking effects already in place, which is where the bigger results are meant to come from. The Numbers to Keep in MindA 96.67% return is slightly above the market average, and the 10,000x ceiling is generous for a 20-line game. The paytable tops out at 25x per line, so almost all of that range comes from the extra-reel effects: multipliers of the size we saw, locked symbols and the free spins. The price list tells the same story. A 1,000x buy for the top bonus only makes sense in a game whose maximum is ten times higher, and our 23.1x result from the cheapest version shows how far below the price a round can end. Lines and Bet RangeThe rules page shows all 20 paylines as small grids, from the three straight rows to zigzags and V shapes, and wins pay from the leftmost reel. SlotCatalog lists bets from $0.20 to $26 per spin, which keeps the game in a medium-stakes range, and its feature list also names a free spins mode choice – the three buy versions are the clearest example of it. BGaming’s “Low-High” volatility label fits that design. The standard game and the Wanted round behave very differently from the Highly Dangerous version, which starts with two prison effects in place from the first spin. Who Should Play ItGrand Patron suits players who like a lot happening on every spin. The extra reels give even the base game a steady stream of multipliers, respins and spawned symbols, and the Chance option and three buy levels let you decide how much risk to take on.
