A Wild That Needs a Scatter

The most unusual rule in Halloween Charms is printed right under the wild in the paytable: “The WILD symbol substitutes all symbols except the SCATTER symbol. 3-5 WILDS only pay when followed by a SCATTER symbol.”

The carved pumpkin wild has its own pay line values – at a stake of 10 per line, six wilds pay 3,000, five pay 1,000, four pay 300 and three pay 100. But a line of three to five wilds on its own pays nothing; it only counts when a bubbling cauldron scatter follows it on the line. Six wilds are the exception, since there is no room left on a six-reel line for a scatter to follow.

The Scatter Pays the Total Bet

The cauldron scatter works differently from the line symbols. The rules say it “pays on any position” and that “SCATTER prizes are multiplied by total bet”. Its values are:

• 4 scatters: 10x
• 3 scatters: 2x

Our screenshots confirm the rule: three cauldrons anywhere on the grid paid 400 at a total bet of 200 – exactly 2x. Scatter wins are added to line wins in the same spin. There is a huge jump between four scatters (10x) and five (250x), so the scatter is where the game’s biggest outcomes live.

The Paytable

The line symbols are paid per line bet. At 10 per line (200 total bet) the rules screen shows:

• Witch hat: 400 for six, 200 for five, 40 for four, 20 for three

What Our Spins Showed

We played at 10 per line, a total bet of 200. The biggest win in our session was a BIG WIN of 1,700 – 8.5 times the bet – built from K symbols across the left of the grid with a pumpkin wild helping to complete the lines. Another spin paid 1,400 (7x): a full column of four stacked wilds on the third reel connected several lines of Ks at once. We also saw 1,100 (5.5x) from a similar stacked-wild column with Ks, and 500 (2.5x) from lines of As with two wilds.

The pattern is clear: stacked pumpkin wilds on the middle reels are what turn low card symbols into real wins, because on a 6x4 grid a full wild column sits on almost every one of the 20 lines.

Because the scatter pays in multiples of the total bet, its value is easy to translate. At the 0.20 minimum, three cauldrons pay 0.40 and six pay 100.
