Joker’s Twist Overview

Joker’s Twist is a classic 3x3 slot from Amigo Gaming, released in November 2023 (SlotCatalog gives 13 November). It has 5 paylines, medium volatility and a maximum win of 1,700x the bet. The joker is the wild, and the game’s one special feature is a respin that kicks in when two reels are filled with the same symbol.

A Three-Reel Fruit Machine

This is a fruit machine in its simplest form: three reels, three rows, five lines. The symbols are drawn in the chunky, glossy style of Amigo’s classic range – cherries, lemons, plums, grapes, gold bells and red sevens, most of them shown in pairs on a single square. The reels sit in silver frames on a deep blue background with a starry sky, and the grinning jester in red and gold is the only character in the game.

Joker Is Wild

The ticker above the reels says it plainly: “Joker is wild”. The jester substitutes for the fruit symbols and can appear stacked, filling a whole reel. On a three-reel game with five lines, one joker in the middle reel already touches three of the lines, so it is the symbol that turns near-misses into wins.

The Twist: Two Stacks Trigger a Respin

The feature that gives the game its name is announced in the same ticker: “2 stacks of a kind trigger a re-spin”. When two reels are completely filled with the same symbol, those reels are held, and the remaining reel spins again. Amigo’s description adds the important detail: on the respin, the stacked symbols are removed from the third reel. In our screenshots those positions are shown as grey X marks.

Removing the symbol sounds odd at first, but it is what makes the respin interesting: the third reel cannot simply repeat the stack, so the result depends on what the other symbols and the joker do on the remaining positions.

What Our Spins Showed

We played the demo at a stake of 150, and the screenshots let us follow two respins through to the end.

In the first, reels 2 and 3 filled completely with grapes, the win counter stood at 1,200, and the first reel spun again. It came back as a third full reel of grapes – nine grapes on the grid – and the game called it a BIG WIN of 3,000. That is 20x the bet, and it divides neatly: five lines at 600 each.

In the second, a stack of plums on reel 1 and a stack of jokers on reel 2 triggered the respin, and reel 3 showed the removed positions as X marks. The respin ended with the joker on the top of reel 1, a gold bell in the middle of reel 2 and bells at the bottom of reel 3: one diagonal line worth 6,000 – 40x the stake, shown as a MEGA WIN.

Checking the Numbers

The balance confirms the bell respin to the credit. Behind the MEGA WIN banner the balance read 999,700; on the next screen, after the win had been paid, it read 1,005,700 – exactly 6,000 more. The grapes respin works the same way: the balance stayed at 1,006,750 while the respin was running and the counter climbed from 1,200 to the final 3,000.

Two Fruits per Square

One detail that sets the look apart: most symbols show a pair of fruits on one square – two cherries, two lemons, two plums, two bunches of grapes, two gold bells, a double seven. When a symbol takes part in a win it lights up with an orange glow, which makes the stacks easy to see. The removed positions on a respin are plain grey X marks, so there is never any doubt which reel is spinning again.

Line Wins in the Base Game

Ordinary spins pay too. One screenshot shows the joker at the top of the middle reel and a row of lemons across the middle, with a line win of 600 and a total of 1,200 on the spin – the joker completing a second lemon line. At our stake, 600 is 4x the bet, the same value per line as the grapes in the respin example.

Where the 1,700x Sits

With five lines and a 3x3 grid, the maximum is reached when every line carries the top symbol. The bell line in our session paid 40x on a single line; a screen filled with the best symbol, helped by stacked jokers, is where the 1,700x ceiling lives. That makes the respin the key: it is the only way the game builds towards a full screen.

Controls and Presentation

The balance sits bottom left, the stake bottom right and the win counter in the middle. The ticker along the top rotates between messages such as “Joker is wild”, “2 stacks of a kind trigger a re-spin” and “Congratulations!” after a win. Big wins bring a shower of gold coins over the reels.
