Story of Farmer Overview

Story of Farmer is a cartoon farm slot from KA Gaming, released on 12 June 2024. It plays on five reels and three rows with 243 ways to win, and bets run from $0.20 to $300 per spin. The star of the show is a little farmer with a straw hat, a spade and a watering can.

KA Gaming has not published an RTP, a volatility rating or a maximum win for the game, and SlotCatalog lists all three as unavailable, so we leave those figures out rather than guess. The numbers below come from our own demo session, played at a bet of $200.

A Vegetable Patch in the Sun

The reels sit on a sunny yellow field, fenced with red wooden posts and surrounded by green hedges and pink flowers. Every symbol grows in the garden: tomatoes, carrots, aubergines, corn cobs, cabbages and slices of watermelon, drawn in a bright, friendly style.

The farmer himself is the most important symbol. He pays for just two on a line, he often arrives stacked in columns, and in the free games he climbs a level ladder at the top of the screen. The scatter is a blue watering can with a white flower.

The Paytable at $200

The first page of the paytable shows the four highest symbols, printed in dollars for the current bet:

• Watermelon – $150 / $90 / $50
• Cabbage – $120 / $70 / $40
• Corn – $100 / $60 / $30

The single-line values look small against a $200 stake – five watermelons pay 0.75x – but this is a ways game. A stack on one reel multiplies every way through it, so the real results come from symbols piling up across neighbouring reels.

How 243 Ways Work Here

There are no fixed paylines. A win needs the same symbol on adjacent reels starting from the left, in any row, and every combination of positions counts as a separate way. Two tomatoes on the first reel and one on each of the next two reels, for example, make two ways of three tomatoes, and each is paid in full.

The farmer is the exception to the three-symbol rule: he already pays for two, so a farmer on each of the first two reels is enough for a win. That makes him the symbol to watch from the very first spin.

The lower symbols – tomato, carrot, aubergine and the rest – sit on the next pages of the paytable, which we did not capture, so we do not quote their values here. Judging by the tomato spin below, they are worth well under the corn cob, and they matter mainly when they fill several reels at once.

Stacked Farmers

That is exactly what produced our best spin. Farmers filled the first three reels from top to bottom and a fourth one stood on the right side of the grid. The first reel lit up with a green frame, the win counter ran through several steps and the spin finished on $2,850 – 14.25x the bet.

SlotCatalog describes the stacked farmers as the trigger for respins, which fits what we saw: the farmers stayed in place while the counter climbed. We could not read the exact respin rule from our captures, so we describe only the result.

Everyday Wins

Smaller spins showed the ways system at work. A spin with two farmers among the aubergines and carrots paid $80, a spread of tomatoes across all five reels paid $240 (1.2x), and a mix of farmers, aubergines and tomatoes returned $500 (2.5x).

The Free Games and Their Levels

Three watering-can scatters trigger the bonus. In our session they landed on the first, third and fifth reels, the banner at the top read WON FREE GAME, and the farmer stepped in front of the grid to announce the round.

The free games add a progress bar in the top-left corner, with a farmer walking along a path towards a counter. Filling it moves the round up a level: the screen flashed LEVEL 2 while columns of farmers stood on the right-hand reels, and the total bonus win already stood at $1,160 (5.8x). SlotCatalog confirms that the free games run through several stages.

The Session in Numbers

We played every spin at $200. The balance started at $97,760, dipped to $97,600, rose to $98,980 after the $500 spin and then fell back through a long run of small or empty spins. It stood at $75,500 after the $2,850 farmer spin and at $69,800 when the bonus finally arrived.

That is a fair warning about the base game: the farmers can deliver a big stacked result, but between them the balance can drift down for quite a while. The free games then began to recover it, with $1,160 already collected by level two.

The paytable scales with the stake, so the ratios stay the same at any bet. At the minimum of $0.20, five watermelons pay $0.15 and two farmers pay $0.05; at the maximum of $300 they pay $225 and $75.

What to Expect

With four high symbols worth under 1x the bet each, Story of Farmer is a game of stacks and streaks rather than single big lines. Most base-game spins in our session landed between 0.4x and 2.5x, and the big moments came when the farmers lined up.
