How we rate games

Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Our editors can adjust a score after playing the game. Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

Tres Pinatas Hold & Win Overview

Tres Pinatas Hold & Win is a 5-reel, 3-row slot with 9 paylines from Hacksaw Gaming, released on 27 August 2026. It is a Día de los Muertos party: three sugar-skull piñatas hang above the reels, and smashing them opens a coin-collecting bonus. The game has a 96.26% RTP, medium volatility, a 41.68% hit frequency and a maximum win of 2,500x the bet, reachable in every bonus mode. Lower RTP settings (94.30%, 92.32% and 86.29%) also exist, so check the figure at your casino.

The details below come from the in-game rules at a €10.00 bet.

Theme and Graphics

Hacksaw usually works in dark, gritty colours, so this sunny Mexican street with pastel houses, bunting and marigolds is a change of pace. Three calavera skulls in sombreros sit above the grid, one blue, one red and one green, each with a large moustache and flowers for eyes, labelled Double, Multi and Collect. The jackpot signs are stacked on the left under the logo.

The low symbols are 10 to A, the premiums a cactus, maracas, chili peppers, a tequila bottle and a guitar. The wild is a purple WILD sign wearing a sombrero.

The Three Piñatas

Blue, red and green Piñata scatters can land in the base game, but only one of each colour at a time. When one lands, it can activate the skull of the same colour at the end of the spin, after the line wins are paid. One active skull is enough to start the bonus, and all three on the same spin guarantee it. Every Piñata on the grid at that moment becomes sticky and carries over into the bonus.

Piñata Party Hold and Win Bonus

The bonus is a classic Hold and Win round with 3 lives, and each life is one re-spin. Only Coins, Jackpots, Piñatas and Dead symbols can land. The Dead symbols are purple tombstones that pay nothing. Any Coin, Jackpot or Piñata sticks and refills the lives to 3, and the round ends when they run out. Piñatas missing from the trigger can still land and join in.

Coins come in four tiers: Bronze 1x–4x, Silver 5x–10x, Gold 20x–50x and Diamond 100x, 150x, 250x or 500x. Jackpot symbols pay a fixed prize at the end: Mini 25x, Major 50x, Mega 250x and Max Win 2,500x. The Max Win jackpot ends the round immediately, since it is the game’s cap.

Double, Multi and Collect

Blue (Double) multiplies one random coin by x2 every time the lives refill, so it works quietly throughout the round. Red (Multi) waits until all lives are used, then applies a random x2 to x10 multiplier to every coin on the grid. After that it boosts any activated Green Piñata in the 3x3 area around it. It never touches jackpot values.

Green (Collect) fires the first time the lives run out. It stores the value of every coin and jackpot, clears them from the grid and refills the lives, which effectively gives a second bonus on a clean board. Placement matters here: a red piñata next to a full green collector multiplies the whole stored sum.

Full Grid

A full grid with all three Piñatas pays once all activations are done. The coins and jackpots are then cleared, the lives refill and the round continues. A full grid with only blue and red ends the bonus: blue fires first, then red, and everything is paid.

Pay Table and Wild

At a €10.00 bet the guitar pays 100.00 for five, or 10x, followed by the tequila bottle at 80.00, the peppers at 60.00 and the cactus and maracas at 25.00. All five royals pay 10.00. The wild lands only in the base game and substitutes for every paying symbol. Wins pay left to right on the 9 fixed lines.

Bonus Buy and BonusHunt

The BUY BONUS menu offers BonusHunt FeatureSpins (96.28% RTP), Mini Piñata Party (96.28%) and Mega Piñata Party (96.34%). The BonusHunt sign next to the grid raises the bet multiplier and the chance of reaching a bonus while it stays switched on; at a €10.00 stake the game shows €50.00 for a 10x bonus chance. Bets run from €0.10 to €400.00, and feature buys can go above that limit. Bonus buys are not available in every region.

Who Should Play It

There is nothing to the base game beyond line wins and collecting Piñatas, so this slot is all about the bonus. Players who like Hold and Win rounds with a twist will enjoy watching the three skulls combine, especially the red multiplier landing beside a loaded green collector. The 2,500x cap is modest for Hacksaw, but medium volatility and a hit rate above 40% make it an easy-going choice.
