Wild Card Gang Overview

Wild Card Gang is a cluster-pays slot from BGaming with a 97.25% RTP, a high volatility rating and a published ceiling of 5,000x. It was released on 26 February 2025.

That return is the highest figure we have recorded in any of these batches – a shade above the 97.09% on BGaming’s own Fortune Bells, and more than six points above the worst.

All figures below were read from demo play at a 7.00 base bet, in the demo’s FUN units.

A City Built Out of Cards

The setting is a narrow alley at dusk, and the buildings on either side are stacks of playing cards – storeys of aces and kings leaning over the street. It is a genuinely good visual joke and it carries the whole theme.

The symbols are four gangster portraits – a man in a fedora, one in a flat cap, a woman with dark hair and a soldier in a field cap – above the four card suits drawn as worn, stained cards.

The grid is tall and narrow: six columns by seven rows, framed in pale blue, with the win total running along a plate above it.

Nine Bands, Starting at Four

The paytable is one of the most finely graded in these batches. Every symbol is priced at nine separate cluster sizes: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12+.

For the top portrait at the 7.00 stake that ladder runs 7.00 for four, 10.50 for five, 14.00 for six, 21.00 for seven, 35.00 for eight, 70.00 for nine, 105.00 for ten, 140.00 for eleven and 350.00 for twelve or more.

Two things stand out. The smallest paying cluster returns exactly the stake – four of the best symbol is a break-even spin. And the top band is 50x, which on a game with a 5,000x ceiling means the cap needs a hundred of those at once, or the multipliers doing the work.

The four portraits are spaced evenly beneath each other: 350.00, 280.00, 210.00 and 175.00 at the top band – a spread of only two to one from best to worst.

The suits sit below the portraits on the table, so a cluster of hearts is worth less than a cluster of gangsters – but with only a two-to-one spread across the four faces, which gangster you get barely matters. How many is everything.

Chance ×2, and What It Costs

A green plate on the left rail reads CHANCE ×2 ACTIVE, and beneath it the price: 1.75 FUN.

The footer confirms the arithmetic exactly. With it switched on the Total bet field reads 8.75; with it off, 7.00. The difference is 1.75 – precisely a quarter added to the stake.

That is an unusually cheap ante. Most games charging for improved bonus odds add 25% to 50%; this one is at the bottom of that range, and it prints the surcharge as its own figure rather than folding it into a new total.

Note what the ante does and does not do. It is labelled CHANCE, not MULTIPLIER: it buys improved odds of reaching the bonus, not a larger payout when you do. The nine-band paytable is unchanged either way.

Buying the Round

A BUY BONUS plate sits above the chance panel at 700.00 FUN – 100x the 7.00 base bet.

The confirmation dialog is minimal and complete: the word BUY BONUS, the bet it is based on (BET 7.00 FUN), the price (700.00 FUN) and two buttons, NO and YES.

And the balance proves the transaction. Before the dialog it reads 970.60; the next capture reads 270.60. That is 700.00 out, to the unit.

Fifteen Free Spins

The award screen is drawn as a hand holding a playing card: CONGRATS! YOU’VE WON 15 FREE SPINS, with CLICK TO CONTINUE beneath.

Inside the round the left plate changes to BONUS ACTIVE and a Free spins counter appears in the footer, reading 15/15 at the start.

The wild is a taped bundle, and it lands lit in orange – our capture catches four of them scattered across the middle of the grid at once, which on a cluster game is what turns two small groups into one large one.

The round’s figures stay modest in these captures: one spin shows 18.20 on the plate above the grid with 9.80 in the Total win field beneath, and the highest total anywhere in the set is 28.00 – four times the base stake.

Winning clusters are lit and the rest of the grid dims, with the amount floating over each group as it resolves – +3.50 and +5.60 on one spin, +7.00 on another. You see which group paid what before the total settles.

What the Clusters Paid

A running list down the left rail shows every cluster as it resolves – its size, a small multiplier badge and the amount – so a spin paying from four separate groups is fully itemised.

Individual clusters in our captures pay 1.40, 2.10, 2.80, 3.50, 5.60 and 7.00, and the totals they add up to are 6.30, 9.10, 14.70, 18.20 and 20.30.

Against the 8.75 total bet those top out at 2.3x. On a 97.25% return that is exactly what you would expect from the base game: frequent, itemised, and barely above the stake.

What the Session Did

Before the purchase the balance runs 970.60, 961.15, 950.30 and 943.30 – a drift of about 27 units, or three times the stake, across four captures.

That is a very flat base game, which is what a 97.25% return buys you. The high volatility rating lives entirely in the bonus, and the 100x price of the ticket is the studio’s own estimate of how much.

The footer keeps Balance on the left, Total bet in the centre and Total win on the right, with the free-spins counter appearing beside them only while the round runs. The logo carries a MergeUp mark above the title.

Who Should Play It

Wild Card Gang is for players who want the best published return they are likely to find and a paytable fine enough to check against it. Nine cluster bands per symbol, an ante priced as its own line rather than hidden in the total, and a buy dialog that names the bet it is calculated from are all better practice than the norm.

The reservations are the high volatility rating against a base game that in our captures never reached three times the stake, and a top band worth 50x on a game advertising 5,000x. The return is excellent; the distribution is not gentle.
