Voodoo Charms Overview

Voodoo Charms is a dark, mystical slot from Amigo Gaming, released in August 2024. Its 5x3 grid sits in a candle-lit voodoo hut, with a glowing green skull perched on a pile of crystals above the reels. The game plays on 25 fixed paylines, Amigo rates the volatility medium-high, and the maximum multiplier is x1,400. Stakes run from 0.25 to 100 per spin.

Amigo lists five features for the game: Expanding Wild, Pin Win, Free Games, a Pick Game and the Pile Collector. The screenshots in this review were taken at a stake of 2,500 coins, which makes every paytable value easy to translate into multiples of the bet.

The Skull and the Crystals

The skull on top of the reels is the game’s Pile Collector. In Amigo’s own words, it “collects crystals and explodes randomly to activate a Pin Win bonus”. The green crystals piled around it grow over the course of play, so the heap above the reels is also a visual hint of how close the next explosion might be. When it goes off, the game switches straight into the Pin Win board.

The Paytable

At a 2,500-coin stake the paytable shows these values:

• Wild (golden eye): 100,000 / 25,000 / 5,000 / 2,500 for five, four, three and two – 40x, 10x, 2x and 1x the bet
• Voodoo priest: 25,000 / 5,000 / 1,500 – 10x, 2x, 0.6x
• Raven: 20,000 / 4,000 / 500 – 8x, 1.6x, 0.2x
• Voodoo doll: 15,000 / 3,000 / 500 – 6x, 1.2x, 0.2x
• Feather charm: 10,000 / 2,500 / 500 – 4x, 1x, 0.2x
• A: 5,000 / 1,000 for five and four – 2x and 0.4x

Two things stand out. The wild is the best-paying symbol in the game, and it is the only one that pays for just two of a kind. And the gap between the priest and the rest is small – the doll pays 6x for five, the priest 10x – so the character symbols are fairly evenly weighted.

Expanding Wilds

The wild is a golden eye in an ornate frame, and when it lands it grows to cover the whole reel. Our screenshots show how much that changes a spin. With one expanded wild on reel four, 11 lines of As paid 11,000: four As are worth 1,000, and eleven of them add up exactly. Another spin had two wild reels side by side on reels three and four, and 3 lines of ravens paid 12,000 – three lines of four ravens at 4,000 each.

That second example is a good picture of how the game works: a pair of ravens on the first two reels is worth nothing on its own, but two wild reels behind them turn it into three four-of-a-kind lines.

Free Games

Three scatters – golden skull medallions – start the free games, and the scatter pays on its own as well: our trigger showed 2,500, one times the bet. The game then announced “Free Games Won: 8” with an important rule underneath: “The highest paying symbols only appear on the reels.” The panel shows exactly which ones stay – the green crystal, the scatter, the wild, the priest, the raven, the doll and the feather charm. The letters disappear for the round.

Without the low symbols, every line is built from the better-paying characters. At free game 3/8 a spin with feather charms paid 4,000 on three lines. At free game 4/8 two expanded wilds on reels one and four joined priests and dolls, and 3 lines paid 39,000 – 15.6 times the bet, with a single line worth 35,000.

The Pin Win Bonus

The Pin Win board replaces the reels with a 5x3 grid of green crystal orbs and empty skull-and-crossbones squares. Each orb carries a coin value, and a treasure chest can land among them. Four jackpots are shown on the left for the whole game:

• Ultra: 2,500,000 – 1,000x the bet
• Max: 375,000 – 150x
• Mid: 125,000 – 50x
• Min: 62,500 – 25x

Our board held ten orbs worth 17,500, 2,500, 2,500, 7,500, 20,000, 22,500, 20,000, 7,500, 30,000 and 7,500. Added together they make exactly 137,500 – the figure in the win meter, or 55x the bet – and a chest worth another 7,500 was being added as the screenshot was taken. Four squares were still empty.

The jackpot ladder is the same one Amigo uses in Lamp of Wishes and Galaxy Chase: 1,000x, 150x, 50x and 25x. The Ultra alone covers most of the x1,400 ceiling.

Putting the 1,400x Ceiling in Context

The paytable lets us check where the big numbers can come from. Five wilds on a line pay 40x, so if every reel were covered by an expanded wild, all 25 lines would pay that 40x at once – 1,000x from a single spin. The Pin Win Ultra is also exactly 1,000x. Either way, reaching the published x1,400 needs one of those top outcomes plus a good share of extra wins on top.

For a sense of scale, the biggest win in our screenshots was the 39,000 free-games spin at 15.6x, and the Pin Win board we reached paid 55x before the chest was added.

The Pick Game

Amigo also lists a Pick Game among the features. None of our screenshots show it, so we cannot describe its prizes; the official feature list is the only source for it here.

The 25 Paylines

The rules screen describes Voodoo Charms as “a 5-reel 3-row slot game with 25 fixed paylines”, and the line diagrams show the usual set: three straight rows, V shapes, zig-zags and several lines that dip into a single row in the middle. Wins pay from left to right, which is why the expanding wilds on reels three and four are so valuable – they complete lines that the first two reels have started.

Graphics and Atmosphere

The base game is set in a green-lit swamp with a wooden shack in the background; during the free games the scene moves inside, to a shelf of skulls, bubbling cauldrons and flickering candles. The symbols are painted in rich colours: a top-hatted voodoo priest with a skull cane, a black raven, a stitched voodoo doll and a red charm of feathers and bones. The glowing crystals above the reels give the whole screen its green tint.

Who It Is For

Voodoo Charms suits players who like expanding-wild slots with a jackpot board on top. The base game gets most of its excitement from full wild reels, the free games strip out the low symbols, and the Pin Win bonus offers a visible 1,000x Ultra jackpot.
