Converted against the stake, five sevens are worth 75x and five grapes 12.5x. These are modest numbers by modern standards, and they are the reason the crown matters so much.

The Crown

The crown is the wild, and it does not land singly. Every capture that contains one contains a block of them – two, four, six or eight crowns filling adjacent positions on reels two and three, each tile glowing gold against the red.

That stacking behaviour is what the title is pointing at. A four-crown column on the middle reel completes lines in every direction at once on a 40-line board, which is why the best captured result is a crown board rather than a seven board.

Two Different Scatters
