Animal Housing Overview

Animal Housing is a cartoon slot from Amigo Gaming, released on 22 May 2024. The reels are the front of a tall apartment building with a red roof, and every window holds a resident: a cat, a raccoon, a hamster in a hard hat, a mole reading the newspaper and a beaver in sunglasses. The game runs on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 fixed paylines. Amigo Gaming rates it high volatility with a maximum multiplier of x2,500, and bets run from 0.20 to 20.

In the studio’s own summary, players “aim to collect three or more scatters and pick their lucky option to move to the Free Games”, where “sticky wild multipliers will appear to increase winnings”.

The Paytable

The paytable is shown in coins for the selected bet. At a stake of 2,000 it reads, for five, four and three of a kind:

The card letters and numbers – A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 – fill the gaps between the windows. The scatter is the most generous symbol in the table: five bonus houses pay 100 times the bet on their own, before the free games are even counted.

The Rules

The rules page confirms the basics: Animal Housing is a 5-reel, 3-row slot with 20 fixed paylines. For each payline only the highest win is paid, scatter wins and line wins are added together, and the free games are played with the same bet as the spin that triggered them. The twenty lines are drawn as small diagrams, from the three straight rows to V shapes and zig-zags.

What Our Spins Showed

At a 2,000 stake, the win messages under the reels match the paytable exactly.

Three beavers in sunglasses on the bottom row paid 1,200 – the beaver’s 0.6x. On another spin a flower box in the middle of the reels completed a line of Ks for 2,000, which shows that the flower box works as the wild.

The most instructive spin paid 16,800 across four lines. One of those lines alone was worth 8,000, and the flower box on it carried a x2 label: the wild did not only substitute, it doubled the line it completed.

The Flower-Box Wild

The wild in Animal Housing is not a character but a window flower box full of plants, hanging where a resident would normally lean out. It substitutes for the regular symbols to complete lines, and it is the symbol that carries the multipliers: in the base game we saw it with a x2 label, and in the free games with x2 and x3. A wild with a multiplier multiplies the whole line it completes, so a single flower box in the middle of the reels can double or triple several lines at once.

Three Scatters: Pick Your Free Games

The bonus house with the word BONUS on it is the scatter. Three of them anywhere on the reels pay 1x the stake – our trigger spin showed 2,000 for three houses at a 2,000 bet, exactly as the table says – and open the free games.

Before the feature starts, the game turns into a pick-and-click round. The front of the building is shown in cross-section, with nine rooms on three floors, and each room hides a number of free games. Our board showed values from 3FG to 7FG – 5, 4 and 3 on the top floor, 3, 6 and 6 in the middle, 7, 3 and 5 at the bottom. Three of the rooms were highlighted as our picks – 4FG, 3FG and 6FG – and the counter at the top shows exactly their sum: 13 free games. The unpicked rooms are revealed afterwards, so you can see what you missed; the 7FG room at the bottom left would have been the best single choice.

That makes the pick more than decoration: with values between 3 and 7 per room, the same trigger can lead to anything from a short feature to a long one, and a long feature matters a lot in a game where the wilds are sticky.

Sticky Wild Multipliers

The free games are where the flower boxes come into their own. They carry multipliers – our screenshot shows x2, x2 and x3 on the reels at once – and, according to Amigo Gaming, they are sticky: once a multiplier wild lands, it stays in place for the rest of the feature. The rules page also refers to symbols keeping their position until the end of the feature.

The effect is easy to see. On free game 9 of 13, three lines paid 33,800 on one spin, and the running total for the round had reached 203,773 – about 102x the 2,000 stake, with four free games still to play. With every new sticky wild the reels become more crowded with multipliers, so the last free games of a round are usually the most valuable ones.

Buy Bonus

A Buy Bonus button with a star sits on the left of the reels. It opens a separate screen where you can set the bet and buy the free games directly. At a 2,000 stake the price was 226,000 – 113x the bet. Two further tabs on the buy screen are locked in the demo, so the free games are the only feature on sale there.

The balance shows that the round in our screenshots was bought: 956,500 on the buy screen, 730,500 once the bonus had started – exactly 226,000 less. The three scatters on the trigger screen are the ones the purchase delivers.

Graphics and Characters

Animal Housing is one of Amigo Gaming’s most playful designs. The reels are the pale facade of a city apartment block, the roof is red, and the characters lean out of colourful window frames – the raccoon peering out from under a flower box, the mole behind his newspaper, the hamster in a construction helmet, the beaver in dark glasses and a gold chain. Behind the building, other houses fill the street. The free games switch to a dusk-coloured version of the same scene.

Who It Is For

Animal Housing is for players who like a light-hearted theme on top of a serious high-volatility engine. The base game is steady thanks to twenty lines and a generous scatter, but the real action is in the free games, where sticky multiplier wilds pile up spin after spin.
