Buffalo Horizon

Buffalo Horizon is a nature-themed video slot from Yggdrasil, created by the Yggdrasil Champions studio 24Karot Games and released on 8 October 2026. You follow a park ranger through four national parks, with a herd of bison leading the way, on a 5x3 grid with 25 paylines. A small three-symbol Rooftop Slot sits on the log cabin above the reels and drives most of the action. The RTP is 96.10% and the maximum win is 3,000x the bet.

A Log Cabin Above The Reels

The setting is a wooden ranger lodge in front of a bright mountain valley with pine trees and a blue sky. The main reels are framed by carved totem posts with bison heads, and the lines, coin value and bet controls sit on a stone base at the bottom. On the right a signpost shows which boosters are active, so you always see what is switched on. The look is clean and warm, closer to a nature documentary than to a loud casino slot.

Symbols And Paytable

Four bison fill the high-paying positions, and four park signs, Mystic Canyon, Iron Mountain, Glacier Lake and Pine Ridge, form the low end. With a €1.00 total bet, the white bison pays €9.40 for five of a kind, €4.00 for four and €2.00 for three. The purple bison pays €8.00, €3.00 and €1.60, the blue one €7.20, €2.40 and €1.20, and the green one €6.40, €2.00 and €0.80. The four park signs pay between €1.20 and €2.40 for five of a kind. All 25 lines pay from the left, and a regular Wild substitutes for the normal symbols.

The Rooftop Slot

The three-position strip above the reels is the heart of the game. Each position can reveal one of three prizes, and what you get depends on the symbols that land there:

• Expanding Wild: the wild on the rooftop expands down into the 5x3 reels below and can substitute for the Ranger symbols too.
• Ranger Spins: three Ranger symbols award 3 Ranger Spins, played with a random locked 3x3 symbol revealed on the reels.
• Free Spins: a Free Spin symbol on the rooftop starts the free spins round with extra boosters attached.

The strip is empty on many spins, so the rooftop acts as a small teaser: when a Wild or a Ranger portrait appears up there, the next stop of the reels is worth watching.

Free Spins

Three or more Free Spin symbols trigger the feature. A regular Free Spin symbol on the reels awards 3 free spins, while a Rooftop Free Spin symbol awards 4 free spins and one booster each. During the round the three centre reels spin as one 3x3 block of symbols, so a single bison can fill a large part of the grid and pay on several lines at once.

Free Spin Boosters

The Rooftop Free Spin symbol also gives 1 extra free spin and 1 booster during Free Spins and Ranger Spins. There are five boosters, and they stack as the round goes on:

• +2 Extra Free Spins adds two more spins to the counter;
• Win Both Ways pays the lines from the right as well as from the left;
• 3x3 Symbol Nudge pushes a big symbol block into place (it is not available during Ranger Spins);
• x2 Multiplier doubles the wins;
• Wild 5th Reel turns the whole fifth reel wild.

Because the boosters combine, a long round with both-way wins, a doubled multiplier and a wild fifth reel is where the big results of this game come from.

Ranger Spins

When the three Ranger symbols line up on the rooftop, a random symbol is revealed in a locked 3x3 block on the main reels and stays there for the three Ranger Spins. The block can be a high-paying bison or a park sign, and the free spin boosters apply here as well, so Ranger Spins are the quicker, more focused bonus of the two.

RTP, Volatility And Max Win

The RTP of Buffalo Horizon is 96.10%. Wins are capped at 3,000x the total bet, and the intro screen of the game itself announces a win over x3,000 as the top prize. There is no Buy Feature in this slot, so every bonus has to be triggered during regular play. Bets can be changed through the coin value and the fixed 25 lines.

Why Give It A Spin

Buffalo Horizon is a good pick for anyone who likes animal and nature slots with an extra mechanic instead of a plain free spins loop. The rooftop strip gives the base game a bit of anticipation, the 3x3 centre block adds some punch to the bonus and the five boosters let the free spins grow in different directions. The max win of 3,000x is moderate, which suits players who prefer a steady rhythm to the extreme top-prize hunt.
