Chillipop: Get Em All – Hold & Win is a cascading pay-anywhere slot from Betsoft, released on 19 September 2024. It is the sequel to the original Chillipop and starts on a 5x4 grid that can open up to 7x7 in the Hold & Win feature. A Mexican Street at Siesta Time

The grid stands in the middle of a sunny Mexican street, with orange and pink houses, flower boxes and balconies on both sides. When the Hold & Win feature starts, the scene switches to evening and strings of coloured lights appear above the rooftops.

The symbols are cartoon vegetables with faces: an orange pepper, a red pepper, a green pepper, a tomato-red chilli, a yellow chilli with a moustache, a dark brown chilli, a purple onion and a white onion. The WILD is a star-studded tile, and the BONUS symbol is a round orange coin with a cash value printed on it.

How Pay Anywhere Works

There are no paylines. A symbol pays when five or more of it land anywhere on the grid, and the prize grows with the count. The paytable splits the counts into four bands: 5–6, 7–9, 10–19 and 20, the last one meaning the whole base grid.

After each win the paying symbols burst and new ones fall in from above. The panel on the left of the grid lists every paying symbol with its count and prize, so a cascade that pays three or four symbols at once is easy to follow.

The Paytable at 10.00

The orange pepper is the top vegetable: 2.00 for five or six, 5.00 for seven to nine, 50.00 (5x) for ten to nineteen and 100.00 (10x) for a full screen of twenty.

The red pepper and the green pepper share the next line: 1.50, 3.00, 30.00 and 100.00. The tomato-red chilli pays 1.00, 2.00, 20.00 and 100.00. The big jump comes at ten symbols, which is where the paytable moves from small change to real prizes.

Wilds That Multiply

The wild substitutes for every symbol except the BONUS coin. Its real job is the multiplier: when several wilds are on the grid, they combine, and the number of wilds becomes the multiplier for the win. Betsoft’s own example is three wilds for a 3x win.

Our captures show exactly that. With three wilds stacked on the fourth reel, the side panel added up to 10.50 and the game paid 10.50 x 3 = 31.50. Another spin with three wilds on the second reel paid 22.50 x 3 = 67.50. The best base-game capture had four wilds in the third column: 17.50 x 4 = 70.00, or 7x the stake.

The Four Jackpots

Four prize plaques run along the top of the screen, and they scale with the bet. At 10.00 they read MINI 100.00 (10x), MINOR 800.00 (80x), MAJOR 3,000.00 (300x) and GRAND 50,000.00 (5,000x).

According to Betsoft, the MINI, MINOR and MAJOR come from special prize symbols in the Hold & Win feature, while the GRAND is awarded for locking all 49 positions of the fully opened 7x7 grid. In other words, the top prize needs the whole board, not a lucky symbol.

The Hold & Win Feature

Four or more BONUS coins anywhere on the grid trigger the feature. Our round started with four of them – 20.00 and three 10.00 coins – on the second and third reels, and the game announced HOLD & WIN FEATURE TRIGGERED!

The feature gives you 3 respins, and every new coin on the active part of the grid resets the counter to three. The coins in our round carried 10.00, 20.00 and 30.00.

Unlocking the Grid to 7x7

This is where the sequel differs from most Hold & Win games. The grid opens in stages as you collect coins. Our capture shows the locks clearly: a padlock on the right-hand column marked 4 OR MORE, and three locked rows above the grid marked 14 OR MORE, 20 OR MORE and 28 OR MORE.

Each lock opens when enough coins have landed, and every new row or column adds fresh positions for coins to fill. Betsoft also describes a MULE symbol that can appear in this round and boosts the value of several random coins at once; it did not show up in our captures.

What Our Session Showed

Most base-game spins paid small amounts, such as 3.00 for five purple onions or 20.00 for ten white onions. The wild multipliers produced the three biggest base-game results, from 31.50 to 70.00.

The balance moved between about 786.50 and 1,010.50 during the base-game captures, which fits a high-volatility game: the base game ticks over, and the big money is kept for the Hold & Win grid.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

A 96.55% return is slightly above the industry average of around 96%, and the high volatility rating matches what we saw: most spins return less than the stake, and the wild multipliers and the Hold & Win grid carry the real value.
