City of Sound Overview

City of Sound is a Play’n GO slot on a 5×3 grid with 25 paylines, carrying a 96.3% RTP, medium volatility and a maximum win of 4,000x the bet. It was released on 5 June 2025.

Theme and Graphics

The setting is not a stadium or a studio – it is a British suburban street. Red brick semis with grey pebbledash, a wooden garden fence strung with Union Jack bunting, an acoustic guitar propped against the wall, a grey sky with a rainbow coming through it.

It is the back-garden version of the music theme, and it is a much better idea than another neon stage. The logo is a lower-case city of sound with a small equaliser graphic above it.

The symbols follow: a purple bucket hat, a pair of red maracas, a green tambourine, a blue microphone, and card ranks rendered as coloured plastic letters.

What the Symbols Pay

At the 100.00 bet the bucket hat pays 2,000.00 for five, 1,000.00 for four and 100.00 for three – 20x the stake at the top.

The maracas return 1,600.00 for five (16x), the tambourine 1,200.00 (12x) and the microphone 800.00 (8x).

All four card ranks pay exactly the same: 200.00 for five, 80.00 for four, 20.00 for three. Two times the stake for a full line, whichever letter it is.

There is a sharp step inside the premium prices too. The hat drops from 1,000.00 for four to 100.00 for three – a tenfold fall for one symbol. Three of a kind is worth very little in this game; four is where it starts paying.

Twenty-Five Lines, Fifteen Positions

Twenty-five paylines on a 5×3 board is a dense configuration – there are only fifteen positions, so every one of them sits on several lines at once. A single symbol in the middle row can be counted five or six times.

That is why the captures show wins with odd figures like 193.33: the total is the sum of several small lines resolving together, not one clean combination. It also means a board can look almost empty and still pay.

The Coins

The feature that carries the game is a cash collector. Large gold discs land on the reels with values printed on them, and the captures show 100.00, 200.00, 300.00, 400.00, 600.00 and 700.00.

At this stake that is one to seven times the bet sitting in a single position – against a top line pay of twenty. One capture has three coins stacked on the middle reel reading 400.00, 600.00 and 200.00 at once.

Note where the coins sit relative to the pay table: a single 700.00 disc is worth more than five of the microphones. The line pays keep the session moving; the coins are what actually add up.

The Wild and the Scatter

The wild is a photograph rather than a symbol – two figures in coats and sunglasses standing in front of a burning amplifier, with WILD across the bottom. It appears on the middle reels and fills its position full height.

The scatter is a Union Jack drum skin with drumsticks crossed over it, bright red and blue against the dark reels, and easy to pick out on a busy board.

The datasheet also lists respins and a random reward feature, so the scatters are not the only route into something happening.

The Equaliser Bar

A thin bar runs along the top of the reel frame, lit green and yellow like a level meter, with a heap of gold coins piled on top of it. It is the only part of the interface that is not self-explanatory, and it fills as coins arrive.

The captures show it at different lengths on different spins, and the biggest results in the session came on boards where it was well filled – which is consistent with a collector feeding a reward rather than a decorative animation.

What the Session Produced

The ordinary spins paid 80.00, 140.00, 193.33 and 200.00 – all under two and a half times the stake, which is what a 2x card rank and a 20x premium will give you.

Then the coins landed. One board paid 600.00, another 1,000.00, and the best of the session came up on a full-screen panel: CONGRATULATIONS – YOU WON 8,000.00, with 700.00 and 400.00 coins still visible behind it.

That is 80x the bet from one resolution – four times what five of the best symbol pays, and the clearest possible demonstration of where this game keeps its money.

The Interface

Play’n GO uses a stake row rather than a stepper: five buttons reading 5.00, 10.00, 25.00, 50.00 and 100.00, with the active one highlighted in red, and arrows at either end.

BALANCE sits on the left of the bar, BET on the right, the win figure above the middle, and a large round spin button with a turbo control beside it. A small status line at the very bottom repeats balance, bet and win.

The Detail Worth Noticing

The background is not static. The rainbow over the rooftops appears on some spins and not on others, the sky shifts between overcast and bright, and the bunting moves – small touches that make a single-screen game feel less fixed than it is.

The guitar leaning against the left-hand wall is the one piece of set dressing that never changes, and it is the only instrument in the scene that is not also a symbol on the reels.

Who Should Play It

City of Sound suits players who want a straightforward line-pay slot with a cash collector attached and something better than the usual artwork. The suburban setting is a genuinely good idea, the coins pay in visible amounts, and 96.3% is a solid return.

Two caveats. Play’n GO ships this one with an RTP range, so check the in-game panel at your casino rather than trusting the headline figure. And the pay table is front-loaded: with card ranks at 2x and three of a kind worth almost nothing, the base reels alone will not hold your interest for long.
