Dear Santa Overview

Dear Santa is a five-reel, three-row slot from Red Tiger with 25 paylines, an RTP of 96.76% and a maximum win of 3,580x. Red Tiger released it on 5 December 2024, and slotcatalog rates its variance as high.

Letters to the North Pole

The game is set in front of a snowy Victorian mansion. The reels sit in a gilded, crimson frame decorated with pine garlands, red baubles and a golden bell above the logo, and a bright red post box stands in the top right corner – the key to the whole game.

The symbols are Christmas objects painted in a warm storybook style: a pair of golden bells tied with a red bow, a pair of ice skates, a wooden rocking horse and a candy cane. The low symbols are ornate gold letters from A down to 10.

The wild is Santa himself, in two forms: a smaller portrait on a single position, and a full-height Santa that fills an entire reel. The scatter is a glowing gold star.

The Post Box Counter

The post box carries a number, and it changes from spin to spin: our captures show it at 4, 2, 0, 1 and 10. It counts the letters collected for Santa, and the letters are what the feature buy sells in bundles.

The game does not explain the counter on the main screen, but the buy menu makes its importance clear: the three options are named not by the number of spins but by the number of letters they start with. That strongly suggests the letter count is what shapes the value of the free spins round.

What the screenshots do show is that the number is not a steady climb within the base game. It read 4 on one spin, 2 on the next capture and 0 on a later one, before showing 10 on the spin that triggered the free spins, so it is not simply a meter that only ever goes up.

Santa Wilds

The full-reel Santa wild is the most striking thing in the base game. In one of our captures, two Santas stood side by side on reels two and three, and the win lines they connected covered almost the whole screen. In another, two full-height Santas landed on reels two and four with a column of mixed symbols between them.

Because the wilds occupy entire reels, two of them in adjacent columns turn every one of the 25 lines into a potential win, which is where the game’s dense webs of paylines come from.

The smaller Santa portrait works differently. In our first capture it appeared on a single position on reel one, labelled Wild, joining a line of mixed symbols rather than covering the reel.

The Symbol Wins

The Symbol Wins screen lists the payouts without a currency sign, so we quote them as printed. The golden bells are the top symbol at 20 for five, 2 for four, 1 for three and 0.4 for two – the only symbol in the game that pays for a pair.

The ice skates pay 10, 1.2 and 0.8, the rocking horse pays 6, 1 and 0.6, and the candy cane pays 4, 0.8 and 0.4. A and K pay 3, 0.6 and 0.2, while Q, J and 10 pay 2, 0.4 and 0.2.

The steepest drop in the table is between four and five of a kind. Five bells pay ten times what four do, and five skates more than eight times, so the full line on reel five is where the base game’s value really sits.

The rules state that all symbols pay from left to right on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel, across the 25 lines shown in the Win Lines chart.

Read against each other, the numbers show a table with a flat bottom and a steep top. Every letter symbol tops out at 2 or 3 for five, while the bells reach 20 – so a single five-bell line is worth between roughly seven and ten five-of-a-kind lines of the letters.

Up to 25 letters the price rises in step with the letter count – two and a half times the letters for two and a half times the price. The last step is steeper: 60 letters is 2.4 times the letters of the middle option but costs three times as much.
