Enchanted: Forest of Fortune is a fairy-tale slot from Betsoft, released on 30 November 2023 and sold in full as Enchanted: Forest of Fortune – Hold & Win. It brings back Feera the Fairy and Rufus the Ogre from Betsoft’s earlier Enchanted game and adds a wizard called Eldrid. The reels are a 5x4 grid with 40 fixed paylines. Betsoft publishes a 96.20% RTP, high volatility and a 22.66% hit rate; stakes run from 0.20 to 40 per spin.

Three Features in One Forest

According to Betsoft, the game combines three mechanics:

• Stacked Mystery Symbols – randomised after each spin, filled with the same symbol, and able to reveal BONUS symbols with prize amounts.
• Free Spins – three book scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 award 10 free spins, and they can be retriggered.
• Hold & Win – six or more BONUS symbols anywhere start the feature. They lock in place, you get 3 respins, and every new BONUS symbol resets the count to 3.

The Symbols

Even the card royals – 10, J, Q, K and A – are carved from wood and wrapped in vines. The characters are the premium symbols: the fairy Feera, the ogre Rufus, the old wizard Eldrid with his long white beard, a red-capped gnome and a goblin, alongside a potion and a glowing flower. The red Phoenix carries the WILD label, and the leather-bound book is the scatter.

What Our Spins Showed

We played at 10.00 per spin. A row of 10s across the grid, with the Phoenix wild on the fifth reel, paid 27.50. In another spin a stack on the third reel turned into three BONUS orbs of 10.00 each – the Stacked Mystery feature in action – while two Eldrid symbols paid a small 5.00 on the side; the total for the spin was 15.00. These are the everyday wins of a high-volatility game; the real value sits in the two bonus rounds.

How the Lines Work

All 40 paylines are fixed, so the stake always covers the whole 5x4 grid. Wins pay from the leftmost reel, and the four rows give the game more room than a standard 5x3 layout: a single symbol stacked down a reel can take part in several lines at once. That is how the row of 10s in our screenshot turned into a 27.50 win, 2.75x the stake, rather than a single line payout. The Phoenix wild helps complete these lines, but it is the stacks – and especially the Stacked Mystery symbols, which fill a whole column with one symbol – that decide whether a spin pays one line or ten. When a mystery stack reveals BONUS orbs instead of a paying symbol, those orbs count towards the six needed for Hold & Win.

Three books start the round with a vine-framed banner: “10 Free Spins Awarded”. The counter on the left then shows how many spins are left. In our round the Hold & Win feature triggered during the free spins, with 8 free spins still remaining – the two bonus rounds can overlap.

The BONUS symbols are glowing blue orbs showing cash values. In our screenshots they came as 10.00, 20.00 and 30.00 – one, two and three times the 10.00 stake. One trigger landed seven orbs on the fourth and fifth reels at once. The round we played through filled most of the 5x4 grid and ended on the banner “Hold & Win Feature Won 210.00” – 21x the stake, with the free spins still to come.

A shopping-basket button opens the Buy Feature menu with two choices. At a 10.00 stake:

Our 210.00 Hold & Win round is a useful yardstick: a natural trigger is worth having, but it would have returned about a quarter of the 800.00 buy price.

Graphics and Setting

The reels sit in a wooden frame overgrown with vines, in front of a violet forest of giant trees and mushrooms, with specks of light drifting like fairies. The game logo in the corner carries a small HOLD & WIN badge. It is Betsoft’s familiar 3D style – detailed, warm and slightly cartoonish.
