Face Off is a horror-themed slot from BGaming, released on 6 October 2025. It returns 95.97% at high volatility and tops out at 15,000x the bet. There are no paylines and no ways – symbols pay by count, from anywhere on the grid, and you need at least eight of them.

A Graveyard In Grey

Almost the entire screen is monochrome. The grid is set into a cracked stone wall in a graveyard, bare trees and leaning crosses behind it, skulls piled at the foot of the frame. The FACE OFF logo is the only splash of red.

The symbols are masks rather than monsters: a green-haired clown, a white rabbit mask, a plague-doctor bird mask, and a blue-hooded figure whose gas mask is stamped REPENT. A, K, Q, J and 10 are carved into grey stone, and a yellow skull marked SCATTER is the only other colour.

Eight Is The Minimum

Twelve clowns are worth 50x the bet; eight tens return 2.50 against a 10.00 stake, a quarter of your money. That is the shape of a pay-anywhere game – hitting the threshold is common, clearing it by four more symbols is not.

The Game Itemises Every Win

A panel on the right lists each paying group separately as the board resolves – count, symbol, amount. Ours read 8 × 10 = 2.50, 9 × A = 8.00, 10 × K = 15.00 and 8 × clown = 100.00.

Every one matches the printed paytable exactly, and a spin producing all four totalled 140.50 – just over 14x the stake. Winning symbols then vanish, leaving pale rings behind, and new ones drop in; the cascades are what turn a 2.50 group into a 140.50 spin.

A Gravestone That Talks Back

To the right of the grid stands a headstone carrying a number and a line of text, both changing as you play:

“DAYS SINCE THE LAST RESURRECTION” – 7

It is a counter dressed as a joke, and the middle message is the one that matters – the inscription changes to warn you when the number is getting close. Most games put a progress meter in a corner; this one carves it into a tombstone.

Two Things To Buy

Both sit on a stone slab down the left edge, priced and permanently visible. At the 10.00 total bet:

The ante is the industry standard rate: a quarter on top of every spin to double your odds of reaching the feature. The buy at 100x is mid-range and forgiving against a 15,000x ceiling.

The return is a little below average and the high variance rating is the more informative figure. Eight symbols out of a large grid is a low bar, so something lands often – but landing often is not the same as being paid.
