Glory of Rome

Glory of Rome Overview

Glory of Rome is a classic video slot from MrSlotty, released on 4 October 2022. It runs on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 fixed paylines, and its story is told through the faces of ancient Rome: a golden chariot, a noblewoman, a centurion in a plumed helmet, Roman coins and laurel-wreathed royals. The published RTP is 96.07%, and stakes run from 0.01 to 25 per spin. MrSlotty does not publish a volatility rating or a maximum win for this title, so we leave those two figures open.

The Setting

The reels sit on a parchment-coloured tablet framed by marble columns. Behind them lies a Roman garden: stone urns overflowing with roses, palms, a statue on a distant temple roof and the pale columns of a basilica. The high symbols are painted as coins and medallions, the low ones as the letters A, K, Q and J inside golden laurel wreaths. It is a calm, sunlit take on the Roman theme rather than the usual gladiator arena.

How the Paytable Works

The info screen lists the Symbol Payout Values for five and four of a kind. The values are multiples of the line bet, and our screenshots let us confirm the scale: at a 25.00 total bet, spread over 20 lines, each line is worth 1.25. The top of the table as shown on the info screen:

• Golden chariot: the highest symbol, 4,000 for five
• Noblewoman: 1,000 for five, 600 for four
• Centurion: 400 for five, 200 for four
• Helmet medallion and coin: the middle tier
• A, K, Q and J: the lowest tier, 30 for four of the lower letters

The Wild That Takes Over the Reels

The wild is the game's main feature. According to the rules it substitutes for all regular symbols on the paylines, except the scatter and other special symbols. When it lands on reels 2, 3 or 4, it expands: all symbols on that reel become wild. An expanded wild reel then stays sticky for the next spin, so one lucky landing can pay twice.

Free Spins With Doubled Wins

The emperor portrait is the scatter. It can land anywhere on the reels, and three or more trigger the bonus. The rules list 10 free spins for three, four or five scatters, and all wins during the free spins are multiplied by 2. Our screenshots show the announcement screen, “FREESPINS 10 – WIN X2”, triggered by three emperors on reels 1, 4 and 5.

What Our Spins Showed

We played at a 25.00 total bet, and the line labels let us check the paytable against real wins.

On line 5, three noblewomen and a wild chariot formed four of a kind, and the line paid 750.00. That is 600 × 1.25 – exactly the noblewoman’s four-of-a-kind value. The same spin continued into a total win of 6,000.00, 240 times the stake.

On line 8, three centurions and a wild again made four of a kind for 250.00 – 200 × 1.25, which matches the centurion’s value. Later, during the free spins, a row of four Ks paid 37.50 on the line, and the doubled amount of 75.00 showed on the reels: the free-spin multiplier at work. Smaller hits such as 62.50 and 37.50 came from short lines helped by a wild on the middle reels.

The 20 Paylines

The lower half of the info screen draws all 20 winning paylines as small grids. They cover the three straight rows, the V shapes and a series of zig-zags. Wins are paid from left to right, and the line indicators on either side of the reels light up with the line number and its value whenever a line pays, which is how we could read the exact amounts in our screenshots.

Why the Sticky Wild Matters

With only the regular symbols, the numbers are modest: four centurions pay 200 line bets, four Ks just 30. The wild changes the picture. An expanded wild reel in position 2, 3 or 4 connects every line that passes through it, so a single premium symbol on reel 1 can suddenly pay on many lines at once. Because the expanded reel stays for one more spin, the next spin starts with a whole reel already wild. Add the free spins, where every win counts double, and it is easy to see where the big results come from; the 6,000.00 total win in our session came from a spin with a wild on the middle reels.

Gamble

After a win, a card button appears on the right of the screen. SlotCatalog lists a Risk/Gamble (Double) game, so a win can be risked on a card guess to double it or lose it.

Controls

The interface is simple: balance, total bet and total win along the bottom, the spin button on the right, and the paytable, sound and settings buttons on the left. The whole game fits in a single screen, with no side panels.

More From MrSlotty

MrSlotty’s catalogue leans towards classic mechanics with one strong feature. License to Win follows the same pattern, with an expanding wild on the middle reels and free spins that triple every win.

Who It Is For

Glory of Rome is for players who like a straightforward slot with a clear hook. The paytable is easy to read, the expanding and sticky wild on reels 2–4 does most of the work, and the free spins double everything. With no published volatility or maximum win, it is best tried in the free demo first.
