Gold, Crowns And Fleur-De-Lis

The whole screen is dressed in gold. The background is covered in a royal fleur-de-lis pattern, the reels sit in dark wooden frames, and the “Golden Crown – Hold & Win” logo glows in red, gold and green on the left. Winning symbols burst into flames and coins spin across the reels.

The symbols are classic fruit machine icons: a red lucky 7, a golden bell, grapes, a watermelon, cherries, a plum, a lemon and an orange. The wild is a jewelled purple and gold crown, and there are two scatters: a red star and a blue star, both marked SCATTER. Many symbols carry a small gold coin with a cash value, such as 150, 300 or 450.

The Expanding Crown

The crown is the most exciting symbol in the base game, because it expands to fill its reel. Our best base game screenshot shows crowns covering the second and third reels completely, flames rising around them, and the spin paying 4,050 – 22.5x the stake of 180 used in that spin. With 10 lines, two full wild reels in the middle connect almost every line on the grid.

Smaller wins follow the paytable closely. A line of four oranges on line 9 paid 450, and together with other lines the spin came to 1,050. Three plums on several lines paid 450.

Two Kinds Of Stars

The two scatters behave differently. The red star only pays for three, but three of them are worth 3,000 at a bet of 150 – 20x the stake. The blue star pays for three, four or five, and five blue stars are worth 15,000, or 100x. Since scatters pay anywhere on the reels, both can land alongside a line win. In our screenshots single red and blue stars appeared in several spins, reminding you that three are needed.

Hold & Win

The coins on the symbols are the key to the bonus. When enough of them land – our trigger spin shows five coins worth 150 to 450 across the reels, and the rules ask for five or more – the screen reads “Bonus Game”. The reels then turn into a dark grid where the coins lock in place and new ones can land during respins. In our round the grid held coins of 150, 300, 450 and 750, and the total reached 4,500. Filling the grid leads towards the jackpots above the reels.
