Leprechauns Diamond Dig Overview

Leprechauns Diamond Dig is a Play’n GO slot on a five-by-four grid with 12 paylines, set in a mine shaft rather than the usual meadow. Its paytable contains a genuine surprise: the leprechaun himself is not the best symbol.

The green top hat pays twice what the leprechaun does for five of a kind, and it is the only symbol on the board that pays from two.

Theme and Graphics

The setting is an underground working: a timber gantry built across a cavern, mine carts running along a rail above the reels, ferns and clover growing over the beams, and daylight showing through a gap in the rock behind. Green crystals glint in the cave wall on the right.

The reels sit on rough wooden planks, and the symbols are mining kit and Irish stock: a grinning red-bearded leprechaun, a green top hat with a gold buckle, a lit oil lantern, a pickaxe, a mine cart, and card letters carved into wood and stone.

Diamond tiles land on grey stone plates with a cash value printed beneath them. All figures below come from demo play at a 50.00 bet.

The Paytable, and the Hat

The paytable is quoted in coins, and its top three entries run as follows.

The green hat leads at x5 10,000, x4 1,000, x3 250 and x2 50. The leprechaun pays x5 5,000 and x4 1,000, with nothing below that. The lantern pays x5 5,000, x4 750 and x3 200.

Three things are worth drawing out. The hat is worth double the leprechaun at five of a kind. The leprechaun pays only from four symbols upward – it has no three-of-a-kind rung at all. And the hat is the single symbol in the game that pays from a pair.

The hat’s own ladder is also unusually steep. Two pay 50, three pay 250, four pay 1,000, five pay 10,000 – a ten-fold jump on the last step, against a four-fold jump on the one before it. Almost all of its value is in the final symbol.

What the Lines Actually Pay

The demo reports each win by line, which makes the ordinary scale easy to read. One spin reads Won 200 on line 2 with a total of 200.00. Another reads Won 150 on line 5, total 150.00. A third reads Won 100 on line 2 with a total of 200.00 – two lines paying the same amount together.

Against the 50.00 stake those are 4x, 3x and 4x. Twelve paylines on twenty positions produce results regularly, and they arrive at a few times the bet rather than a few fractions of it.

The demo’s balance moves accordingly: 24,900 down to 22,900 across the captures, in steps rather than lurches.

One capture is worth singling out for the opposite reason: a board carrying two leprechauns side by side on the first two reels, with a third on the fifth, and no win reported at all. On a twelve-line game the best symbols still have to fall on a path, and three of them scattered across the grid is not a combination.

The Diamond Tiles

Alongside the ordinary symbols, grey stone tiles land carrying diamonds and cash values. The demo shows them at 50, 100, 150, 250 and 1,250.

Against the 50.00 bet that is 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x and 25x – so a single high tile is worth more than six of the demo’s best ordinary line wins put together.

They land in numbers, too. One capture shows six of them on the board at once – a 1,250, a 150, a 50 and three 100s – and another shows three stacked down the fifth reel, each reading 100. These are collector symbols, and what they are worth depends entirely on whether something arrives to collect them.

That last point is the one to hold on to. A grid full of diamond tiles is not a win in itself – it is a board waiting for the mechanic that turns tiles into money, which is why the free spins round matters more here than the paytable does.

Free Spins and the Mega Blast Multiplier

The free spins award is announced on a wooden sign hung from the gantry, and the demo catches it twice: 10 FREE SPINS in one round and 15 FREE SPINS in another.

Beneath the number, the same instruction appears on both screens, and it is the clearest statement of the game’s design anywhere on the interface:

Collect LUCKY CLOVERS to increase the MEGA BLAST MULTIPLIER!

So the round is not a fixed prize but an accumulator. Clovers landing during the free spins push a multiplier upward, and that multiplier is applied when the Mega Blast resolves – which is why the diamond tiles matter so much more inside the round than outside it.

A round that collects little is worth what the tiles say. A round that collects a great deal is worth those tiles multiplied, and that is the entire distance between an ordinary result and the game’s ceiling.

RTP and the Range

The RTP is listed as 94.2%, and Play’n GO operates RTP ranges: the same title ships in several configurations and the operator picks one.

94.2% is close to two points below the modern standard, which over any real number of spins is a material difference. It is also a figure that may or may not describe the version in a particular lobby – so the game’s own information panel is worth opening before playing, wherever you find it.

Volatility and Max Win

Volatility is rated Medium and the maximum win is 3,000x the bet.

Medium is a fair description of the base game. Twelve lines on twenty positions with a symbol that pays from two of a kind produces frequent, modest results – the demo’s run of 3x and 4x wins is exactly that texture, and the balance drifts rather than swings.

The ceiling tells the other half of the story. Five green hats, the best combination on the paytable, is nowhere near 3,000x on its own; getting there needs a free-spins round where clovers have driven the Mega Blast multiplier up and the diamond tiles are sitting on the board waiting for it.

It is a well-judged piece of design in that respect. The base game is pleasant and undemanding, the tiles give every spin something to hope for, and the multiplier is built by collecting rather than by luck on a single spin.
