How we rate games

Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Our editors can adjust a score after playing the game. Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

Mahjong Reactor Overview

Mahjong Reactor is a cluster-pays slot from Eurasian Gaming that swaps the usual reels for a board of mahjong tiles. There are no paylines: a win needs a group of four or more matching tiles connected horizontally or vertically, winning tiles disappear, and new ones drop in from above until no more clusters form. On top of that sit three bonus stages – a Board Upgrade with Boosts, a Tile Flip Bonus and a Mystery Bonus Prize.

The game is listed with a 95% RTP and medium-low volatility. Eurasian Gaming does not publish a maximum win, and there is no SlotCatalog page for this title. Our figures come from a session at a total bet of 50.00 USD (a bet multiplier of 5.00). Eurasian Gaming’s demos cannot be embedded on third-party sites, so there is no playable demo on this page.

The Board and the Tiles

The game starts on a 5x5 board of cream mahjong tiles, set in a neon-lit room with more tile walls in the background. A small red-and-green dragon sits to the right of the board and reacts to the action. The paying tiles fall into two groups: four flower and plant tiles – a red chrysanthemum, a purple orchid, green bamboo and a pink plum blossom – and the four wind tiles, marked with the characters for north, south, east and west. WILD tiles join clusters in place of any paying tile.

A panel on the left lists every cluster paid in the current round, and above it a round dial holds the three special mahjong tiles that lead to the bonus stages.

Paytable

At the 50.00 USD bet, the flower tiles paid the following for clusters of 8 or more, 7, 6, 5 and 4:

  • Red chrysanthemum: 1,500 / 600 / 300 / 150 / 75 USD – the top prize is 30x the bet
  • Purple orchid and bamboo: 1,000 / 400 / 200 / 100 / 50 USD
  • Plum blossom: 750 / 300 / 150 / 75 / 40 USD

The wind tiles make up the lower tier and pay smaller amounts for the same cluster sizes. Because the payout table tops out at clusters of eight, the real value lies in the cascades: one spin can pay several clusters in a row.

How Clusters Form

Tiles count as connected only when they touch along a side – up, down, left or right. Diagonal neighbours do not join a cluster, so an L-shape or a line of four across a row both pay, while a diagonal chain does not. A WILD tile can stand in for a missing piece and link two groups of the same symbol.

Each cascade reshapes the board. Cleared tiles leave gaps, the tiles above slide down, and new ones fill the top, so a win in one corner can push matching tiles together elsewhere. This is why a modest first cluster sometimes turns into a round of four, five or six payouts, as the side panel shows.

Cascades in Practice

A cluster of blossom tiles paid 100.00 USD early in our session, 2x the bet. Another spin filled most of the board with east and west wind tiles, and the cascades collected six separate clusters for a total of 60.00 USD. Every cleared cluster is listed in the side panel with its size and value, so it is easy to follow how a round adds up.

Board Upgrade and Boosts

The provider describes the Board Upgrade as a stage that grants 3 to 7 Boosts – its name for free spins. The board then grows well beyond 5x5 into a much larger grid of tiles, which leaves far more room for big clusters and long cascades. A Boosts counter beside the board shows how many are left.

In our session a Board Upgrade produced single cascades of 115.00 and 295.00 USD, and with no Boosts left the win counter stood at 350.79 USD – about 7x the bet.

Tile Flip Bonus and Mystery Prize

Collect at least one of the three special mahjong tiles and you move on to the Tile Flip Bonus: a 5x5 board of face-down gold tiles, with the instruction to click on the tiles until you’ve matched 3. Each tile hides a prize, and the round has levels – ours started at Level 1. Our Tile Flip round ended with a total win of 650.00 USD, 13x the stake.

According to Eurasian Gaming, collecting all three special tiles unlocks the Mystery Bonus Prize, which the studio presents as the game’s biggest reward. We did not reach it in our session, and no value for it is published.

The special tiles are the red 中, the green-and-red 元 and a blue tile shown in the dial on the left. On our Tile Flip board we turned over seven 元 tiles.

Power Play: Buy Bonus and Fast Play

The Welcome to Power Play screen offers two options. The Buy-Bonus Feature costs 1,350.00 USD at a 50.00 USD bet – 27x – and grants access to the bonus feature on the next round. The Fast-Play Feature runs a chosen number of rounds (100 by default) instantly and shows the combined result, stopping if a bonus is triggered so that you can play it.

Who Should Play It

Mahjong Reactor suits players who like cluster slots with a lot going on. The tiles are easy to read, the side panel explains every payout, and the three bonus stages give the game a sense of progression. The relatively cheap 27x buy price makes the bonus easy to reach, while the medium-low volatility points to frequent, moderate wins rather than rare large ones.
