Maya Doomsday Overview

A Temple in the Jungle

The reels sit inside a carved stone temple, with a waterfall, jungle trees and a volcano in the distance. Two golden serpent heads guard the bottom corners, a carved skull sits on the left, and a row of coloured lights runs along the top of the frame.

The premium symbols are four painted masks – purple, red, blue and green – and the low symbols are carved stone glyphs and the card letters A, K, Q and J cut into stone. The scatter is a round gold medallion marked FREE GAME.

The Paytable

The rules page lists the prizes in the game’s own units. The purple mask tops the table at 3 for five, 0.75 for four, 0.5 for three and 0.25 for two – it is the only symbol that pays for just two of a kind. The red mask follows with 1.5, 0.45 and 0.3, the blue mask with 0.8, 0.3 and 0.2, and the green mask with 0.4, 0.15 and 0.1.

The two stone glyphs pay 0.32, 0.12 and 0.08, and the letter A pays 0.24, 0.09 and 0.06. Single wins are modest, which is normal for a ways game: the money comes from many ways paying at once.

The Rock Wall Mechanism

The game’s signature feature is the split symbol. Funta describes it as a rock wall mechanism: when it activates, a symbol splits in two, which adds positions to the reel and raises the number of ways toward the 8,192 maximum.

You can see it on the grid as tiles cut into halves, with two smaller symbols stacked where one used to be. In our Free Game captures whole reels were split this way, with pairs of letters and glyphs sharing a single position.

Reading the Grid

In the base game the grid is 5 reels by 4 rows, which gives the starting 1,024 ways. The Free Game adds a row, and with the split symbols on top of that the count can climb to the full 8,192 ways.

Wins pay for matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left, in any position, so every split tile counts as two separate symbols for the ways calculation. The bottom bar keeps things simple: credit, win and bet fields, a spin button and an autoplay control, with the rules one tap away.

The Free Game and the Four Masks

Three FREE GAME medallions trigger the feature. In our session they landed on reels 1, 2 and 4, and the screen then showed the four masks on stone pillars. The rules explain that there are four modes to choose from, one for each mask, and each mode plays with its own set of symbols alongside the wild, the glyphs and the letters.
