Moonburst Express

Moonburst Express Overview

Moonburst Express is a compact festive slot from Kalamba Games, released on 3 September 2026. It plays on 3 reels and 3 rows with 5 fixed paylines, and it takes its theme from the Mid-Autumn Festival: red lanterns, lotus flowers, mooncakes and a big full moon over an old Chinese town.

The small grid hides a lot of features. There are Cashpot symbols with cash values, seven Cashpot prizes from 3x to 10,000x the bet, symbol multipliers up to x10, a Free Spins Bonus with extra spins and two BuyBonus options.

The RTP is 95%, and the game comes in several RTP versions. The demo version we played shows a theoretical payout of 94.04%, 94.06% with BuyBonus Level 1 and 94.20% with BuyBonus Level 2, so always check the game rules in your casino. Kalamba rates the volatility at 8 out of 10 (medium-high), the hit frequency is 22.5% and the maximum win is 10,000x the bet. Bets range from 0.05 to 100 per spin.

Theme and Graphics

The reels sit in an ornate golden-red cabinet, like an old festive machine. Behind it, you can see a street with red pagodas, lanterns on strings, colourful banners and orange autumn trees. Above the reels, the Cashpot board shows the seven prize levels in coins, with a golden dragon-shaped pot in the centre and the top prize in a long golden bar.

When the Free Spins Bonus starts, the day turns into night. The sky becomes dark blue, fireworks burst over the roofs and the lanterns start to glow. A counter for the Extra Spins symbols appears under the reels.

Kalamba itself calls the game a “rapid-fire” slot, and that fits: with only nine positions, every spin is short, and the Cashpot board is always in view, so you can see at once how close a spin came to the next prize level.

Symbols and Line Pays

The two regular paying symbols are the Lantern and the Lotus Flower. Wins pay on the 5 lines, and only the best combination is paid on each line. At a bet of 100, the paytable shows:

• Lantern: 60 for three,
• Lotus Flower: 40 for three and 20 for two.

These line wins look small, but they are only the base. Both symbols can carry a multiplier, and a full screen of lanterns can pay on all 5 lines at once. In our session, three lanterns with x2 and x3 multipliers paid 360 on a 100 bet.

Multiplier Symbols

The Lantern and the Flower can land with a multiplier attached. When such a symbol is part of a winning line, the win for that line is multiplied. There are five possible values: x1, x2, x3, x5 and x10. In the screenshots, you can see a flower line with two x2 symbols paying 80, and a lantern line with an x3 paying 180.

Cashpot Symbols

The Cashpot symbols are blue moon coins with a white rabbit and a cash value. The possible values are 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x, 0.8x, 1x, 1.2x, 1.4x, 1.6x, 1.8x, 2x, 2.4x, 3x, 4x and 5x the bet. Any 3 or more Cashpot symbols anywhere on the reels pay the sum of their values. They count as scatter symbols, so they do not need to land on a line.

The Seven Cashpot Prizes

At the same time, the number of Cashpot symbols in one spin decides which Cashpot prize you win. Only the highest level is paid:

• 3 symbols – Level 1: 3x the bet,
• 4 symbols – Level 2: 5x,
• 5 symbols – Level 3: 10x,
• 6 symbols – Level 4: 40x,
• 7 symbols – Level 5: 100x,
• 8 symbols – Level 6: 500x,
• 9 symbols – Level 7: 10,000x.

Cashpot prizes can be won in the base game and in the Free Spins Bonus. The top prize needs all nine positions filled with Cashpot symbols. In our free spins, five moon coins worth 60 to 240 landed in a single spin.

Free Spins Bonus

Three Bonus symbols trigger the Free Spins Bonus with 8 initial free spins. During the bonus, the Extra Free Spins symbols – small golden ingots – fill a counter under the reels. For every 3 collected, you get 3 additional spins. The pays in the bonus are based on the bet of the spin that triggered it.

The round can grow well beyond the starting number. In our bought 12-spin bonus, the counter went from 15 to 21 spins. One spin with eight lanterns and x3 and x10 multipliers pushed the total win to 14,640, and the round ended at 18,460 on a 100 bet – about 185x.

BuyBonus

The shopping cart button opens the BuyBonus menu with two options. At a bet of 100, they cost:

• 8 Free Spins: 4,000 (40x the bet),
• 12 Free Spins: 6,400 (64x the bet).

The bought round is played with the bet shown before the purchase, and Cashpot prizes in it are also based on that bet. BuyBonus is not available in every casino.

Who Should Play It

With a volatility of 8 out of 10, the game can go quiet for a while, and most of the big value sits in the Cashpot ladder and the Free Spins Bonus. A hit frequency of 22.5% means that roughly one spin in four or five pays something.

Moonburst Express is for players who like quick 3-reel games but want more than a classic fruit slot. If you enjoy the Cashpot ladder of games like 9 Blazing Cashpots Megaways, you will feel at home. Try the free demo first.
