Mystery of Persia

Mystery of Persia Overview

Mystery of Persia is an adventure slot from Onlyplay, released on 6 August 2024. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 10 paylines, and the published figures are an RTP of 95.5%, high volatility and a maximum win of 5,000x the bet. Stakes run from $0.10 to $50 per spin.

The numbers below come from our own demo session, played at a bet of 50 USD.

A Palace of Sand-Coloured Stone

The reels stand in the courtyard of a Persian palace, framed by carved arches, latticed windows and torches burning on both sides. The title sits above the reels in gold letters under a pair of spread wings. In the free spins the palace turns dark and purple, as if the game had moved inside at night.

The premium symbols are two winged guardians of Persian legend – a golden bearded figure with a lion’s body and a purple winged lion – followed by a golden eagle, a golden drinking horn and a blue coin. The low symbols are the letters A, K, Q and J. The wild is a flaming golden cup.

The Paytable

All values are multiples of the bet:

• Golden guardian: 200x for five, 20x for four and 2x for three.
• Purple winged lion: 100x, 10x and 1x.
• Eagle, drinking horn and coin: 15x, 1x and 0.3x each.
• A, K, Q and J: 4x, 0.4x and 0.1x each.

The gap between the two guardians and everything else is wide: five eagles pay 15x, while five golden guardians pay 200x. The letters are worth very little for three of a kind, so most base-game wins come from four- and five-symbol lines.

The line map shows ten fixed paylines on the 5x3 grid: the three straight rows, V shapes in both directions, zigzags and two lines that step diagonally across the reels.

Wins in the Base Game

At 50 USD, our captures show wins of 100.00 USD with letters on several lines, 250.00 USD from a spin full of Ks and Js, and 415.00 USD – 8.3x the bet – from a spin where three golden eagles landed alongside Qs and Js. Winning positions are marked with glowing gold frames, so it is easy to see which symbols paid.

In another spin three flaming wild cups landed on the first three reels at once. The rules picture the wild as a normal substitute, and in that capture it filled one position on each reel.

The Row Above the Reels

Above the reels runs a narrow strip of small boxes. During play it fills with symbols from the grid – letters in the base game, and the purple winged lion in the free spins. The game does not explain the strip in the screenshots we have, so we note it as a feature to watch rather than describe its rules.

The Free Spins

The feature opened with a stone tablet reading “Congratulations! You won 10 freespins”. In our round one spin with three purple winged lions paid 500.00 USD, and the round reached a total of 760.00 USD at that point.

The 500 USD figure is worth a closer look. Three lions pay 1x the bet, or 50 USD on one line – and 500 USD is exactly that amount on all ten lines. That fits the pattern of a special symbol that expands and pays on every line, as in many Book-style games, and SlotCatalog also lists additional free spins. This is our reading of the capture, not a published rule.

What the Top Prizes Are Worth

At our 50 USD bet, five golden guardians on one line pay 10,000 USD, five purple lions 5,000 USD and five eagles, horns or coins 750 USD each. Five of any letter pay 200 USD. Three of a letter return only 5 USD, which is why the base game can feel slow between the bigger lines.

Set against the 5,000x maximum – 250,000 USD at this stake – the paytable alone does not come close. The ceiling can only be reached when a premium symbol pays on many lines at once in the free spins. That makes the free spins round the part of the game to watch, and the 500 USD lion spin in our session gives an idea of how quickly it can add up.

Controls and Layout

The bar below the reels shows the balance, the win of the current spin and the bet, with plus and minus buttons for the stake; in the free spins a separate field shows the total win of the round. On the right are the spin button, a MAX BET shortcut and buttons for sound and settings. The demo runs in USD.

What the Session Did

The balance moved from 9,020 USD to 8,785 USD and then down to around 6,300 USD by the time the free spins arrived. That is typical of a high-volatility game with a steep paytable: the letters return little, and a session depends on the guardians and the free spins.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

A 95.5% return is a little below the market average of around 96%. The 5,000x maximum is well above what the paytable gives for a single line – 200x for five golden guardians – so the ceiling depends on the free spins.

Who Should Play It

Mystery of Persia suits players who like classic ten-line adventure slots with high volatility and a free spins round that can pay on every line. The palace setting and the two winged guardians give it a distinct look among the many Middle-Eastern-themed slots. With stakes starting at $0.10, it is also easy to try at a low cost before moving up to larger bets, and the free demo above lets you see the free spins without any risk.
