Noir City OverviewNoir City is a crime-noir slot from Triple Cherry, released in June 2024. It plays on five reels with 25 paylines according to the studio, and its bonus round combines a pick-a-tile minigame with free spins full of locked wilds. Triple Cherry’s game page lists a hit frequency of 23.23%, a maximum multiplier of x1,113.8 and several RTP settings, from 88.24% up to 96.18%. The numbers below come from our demo session, played at bets of FUN 20.00 and FUN 12.50. A Rain-Soaked Crime SceneThe reels are fenced in by yellow CAUTION tape against a blurred city street at night, with neon signs and red lights in the background. Most symbols are drawn in black and white; only their details carry colour, which gives the game its film-noir look. The characters are the high symbols: a detective in a trench coat, a woman in a red dress, a police officer, a man in a green shirt with a camera, and a gangster with a tommy gun. The lower symbols are the letters A, K, Q and J, each with a small pistol or handcuff motif. The WILD is a mobster in a purple suit framed in gold, and it substitutes for every symbol except the Bonus. The Prize TableThe prize table pays combinations from left to right, starting on the leftmost reel. Our capture was taken at FUN 12.50, and as far as the blurred values can be read, the detective pays around FUN 225 for five (18x the bet) and the woman in red around FUN 168.75, with the officers and the letters well below. The wild has its own line values as well. The rules page also draws every payline as a small grid of pink squares, so you can check exactly which positions a winning line covers. The lines zig-zag across the reels in V shapes, steps and straight rows, which is why a single wild in the middle of the grid can take part in several wins at once. Base Game WinsAt FUN 20.00 our best base-game spins paid FUN 58.00 (2.9x), FUN 90.00 (4.5x) and FUN 120.00 (6x). The largest came from two women in red on the top row joined by a wild on reel 1, and the FUN 90 spin used a wild in the middle of the grid to connect a row of Aces. Wilds turn up regularly in the base game, often in the middle reels, which keeps these small and medium wins coming. The bottom of the screen holds the Bonus button on the left, an auto-play counter, the red spin button and a MAX button next to the bet field. SlotCatalog gives a betting range of $0.20 to $100 per spin. The Evidence BoardThe bonus opens in a detective’s office: a red evidence board under a desk lamp holds ten face-down tiles. Each tile hides either a number of free spins or a red cross, and the free spins you find are added to the Accumulated FS counter below the board. In our round the tiles revealed +1 FS, +1 FS, +2 FS and a big +7 FS among four crosses, and the counter showed 7 when the pick ended. This minigame is how Triple Cherry’s feature list describes it: a minigame to win free spins. The scene is one of the game’s best touches. The colour palette switches from grey streets to deep red, stacks of papers sit on the desk below the board, and every revealed tile flips with a small animation, so the pick feels like piecing together a case rather than pressing a button. The number of free spins is decided entirely here, before the first free spin is played. Free Spins With Locked WildsTriple Cherry describes the free spins as Locked Wilds and respins with each prize. The rules page explains that during the Free Spins phase, each time a prize is won, a sticky wild appears in a random position and triggers a respin, up to a maximum of five respins. In our capture, with 6 free spins left, four wild tiles were already locked on the grid – two on the bottom row of the middle reels and two in the right-hand corners – and the Total Prize stood at FUN 65.00 at a FUN 12.50 bet. Buying the Free SpinsThe Bonus button opens the Free Spins Phase window, which offers “immediate access to the BONUS feature”. At a bet of FUN 12.50 the price was FUN 1,696.25 – about 135.7x the bet – and pressing Start deducts the whole cost from the balance. That is an expensive entry compared with the game’s x1,113.8 ceiling, so the natural route through the evidence board is worth weighing against the purchase. The Numbers to Keep in MindThe RTP depends on the operator: Triple Cherry ships Noir City with a 90.39% default and alternative settings of 96.18%, 94.18%, 92.12% and 88.24%. SlotCatalog lists 90.16% (up to 96.05%), medium volatility, 40 paylines and a 1,035x maximum; the studio’s own figures are the ones in our data box. A 23.23% hit frequency means roughly one paying spin in four, and the modest ceiling makes this a steadier game than its dark theme suggests. Who Should Play ItNoir City suits players who like a strong theme and a bonus round with some interaction. The evidence board decides how many free spins you get, and the locked wilds make every prize in the free spins a little more valuable than the last.
