Ragna's Rock OverviewRagna's Rock is a Viking cluster slot from GameArt, released on 14 November 2023. Instead of reels and paylines it uses a large 7x7 grid where matching symbols pay in clusters and disappear in avalanches. The game's own configuration gives an RTP of 96.75% and a maximum win of 20,000x the bet; SlotCatalog lists the same RTP, high volatility and a lower 2,600x maximum. Bets run from 0.25 to 100. The Grid and the Cluster WinsThe 7x7 board is framed in carved stone, with a snowy northern landscape behind it. It is filled with coloured runes and crystals – blue, green, purple and red – and with Viking warriors: the red-bearded Ragna, a fair-haired shieldmaiden, an older chieftain and a green-clad fighter. Groups of five or more touching symbols pay, the winning cluster explodes, and new symbols fall into the gaps. A single paid spin can therefore turn into a chain of several wins. A panel on the left lists every cluster of the current chain. At a $5 bet one cascade showed 5 blue crystals = $1.00 and 7 warriors = $5.20, for a spin total of $6.20. Another sequence paid 5 red and 5 blue runes at $1.00 each and 6 green ones at $2.80, for $4.80. The Energy MeterOn the left of the grid stands a stone pillar – the energy meter. It fills as clusters are removed, and it is marked with four levels: x2, x3, x5 and x10. Each level unlocks one of the game's features as the meter climbs. SlotCatalog lists these features as random wilds, substitution symbols, a 3x3 mega symbol and a multiplier, and the level-up structure means the longer the avalanche chain, the more of them come into play in the same spin. One of our screenshots shows the whole grid frozen in blue ice with the meter part-filled – the moment a feature is applied to the board before the next avalanche. Free SpinsA round coin marked BONUS sits in the top-left corner. When the bonus triggers, a panel announces the prize – in our session “Congratulations, you won 5 free spins”, with a $1.00 win already on the board at the $5 stake. SlotCatalog also lists additional free spins and a free spins multiplier, so the round can grow once it has started. Two Kinds of BuyThe buy menu has two tabs. The Feature tab sells the free spins directly: at a $5 bet the price was $500 – 100x. The Bonus tab is different – it sells a pre-charged energy meter for the next spin:
The panels show how far the meter is filled, and the price rises steeply with each extra level. The game's configuration lists separate RTPs for these purchases: 96.72% for the bonus buy and 96.61–97.40% for the four feature-buy options, all close to the base 96.75%. What Our Spins ShowedAt a $12.50 bet, a long cascade combined 9 blue crystals for $7.50 with two clusters of five for $2.50 each – $12.50, exactly one bet back. Another spin paid 7 green runes for $5.00. At the $5 stake the 7-warrior cluster at $5.20 was worth more than a full bet on its own. These are small wins by the standard of a 20,000x game – the large results depend on the meter reaching its top levels. Bets and LimitsThe demo's configuration spells out the betting structure. The base game accepts $0.25 to $100 per spin, stepped through fixed bet levels from the minimum up. The purchases have their own ceilings: a bonus buy can cost up to $10,000 and a feature buy up to $26,000, which at the top stake matches the price ratios above – 100x for free spins at a $100 bet is $10,000, and the most expensive option reaches 260x. The 20,000x maximum means a single spin at the top $100 bet could in theory pay $2,000,000. That is the game's own figure; SlotCatalog's 2,600x is far more modest, so it is worth checking the rules screen at your casino for the version you are playing. Graphics and SoundGameArt gives the game a cold, dark palette: slate-grey stone, deep blue sky and glowing runes. Explosions of green and white light mark each cluster as it is removed, and the ice effect covers the whole board when a feature fires. The Ragna's Rock logo, carved in stone, sits in the top-right corner. More From GameArtGameArt has moved beyond classic fruit machines in recent years. Greek Pantheon Megaways uses a Megaways engine with up to 117,649 ways, and Fate's Fury has its own battle zone with collected features. Ragna's Rock brings the same idea of charging up features into a cluster-pays grid. Who It Is ForRagna's Rock suits players who enjoy cluster pays and building features within a single spin. The base game pays in small, frequent cascades; the energy meter and the free spins are where the high volatility shows. The two-tab buy menu gives an unusual choice – a cheap partial meter or the full free spins round. You can try this game on SunClub Online Casino. There’s a unique casino bonus offer of 400% up to £1500 for a limited time. |
