Sugar Valley Overview

Sugar Valley is a candy-themed slot from Onlyplay, released on 18 June 2024. It plays on a 6x5 grid, pays for eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen, and clears winning symbols so that new ones can fall into their place.

Onlyplay lists an RTP of 95.50%, high volatility and a maximum win of 6,853x the bet. SlotCatalog agrees on the RTP and the volatility but gives a lower ceiling of 5,000x and stakes from 0.10 to 50. All the figures below come from our demo session, played at a bet of 50 USD.

A Sweet Shop Under the Awning

The grid sits in a wooden market stall with a striped red-and-white awning, surrounded by pink candy-floss trees, giant lollipops, cupcakes and a gingerbread house. A rainbow road runs below the reels.

The premium symbols are sweets: a lollipop, an ice-cream cone, a slice of chocolate cake, a doughnut and an orange slice. The low symbols are shiny candy versions of the card suits – heart, diamond, spade and club. A tiered pink cake is the scatter.

The controls sit under the grid: balance, last win and bet fields with plus and minus buttons, an information button and a menu. A tall panel on the right holds the spin button, the sound and autoplay controls and a MAX BET button.

Pay Anywhere, Not Along Lines

There are no paylines. The paytable groups every symbol into three bands – 8–9, 10–11 and 12 or more – and a win needs at least eight of the same symbol anywhere on the 30 positions. In our captures the winning symbols were spread across the whole grid rather than touching each other, which is how a pay-anywhere game behaves. SlotCatalog lists the mechanic as cluster pays.

After a win the symbols disappear in a burst of purple sparkles, and the empty spaces refill from above. A single spin can therefore pay several times in a row.

The Paytable

All prizes are multiples of the bet. The lollipop pays 10x / 25x / 50x for 8–9, 10–11 and 12+ symbols. The ice cream pays 2.5x / 10x / 25x, the cake slice 2x / 5x / 15x and the doughnut 1.5x / 2x / 12x.

The orange slice pays 1x / 1.5x / 10x. The candy suits sit lower: heart 0.8x / 1.2x / 8x, diamond 0.5x / 1x / 5x, spade 0.4x / 0.9x / 4x and club 0.25x / 0.75x / 2x.

Our session matched the table exactly. At 50 USD, eight spades paid 20 USD (0.4x) and ten spades 45 USD (0.9x). In another spin ten clubs paid 37.50 USD (0.75x) as one step of a tumble sequence that finished at 60 USD.

The bands reward size unevenly. For the lollipop, going from 10–11 symbols to 12 or more only doubles the prize, from 25x to 50x. The doughnut jumps sixfold, from 2x to 12x, and the orange almost sevenfold, from 1.5x to 10x. For the mid-range sweets, the 12+ band is where the real money is.

The Scatter

The tiered pink cake is the scatter and pays on its own scale: 4 cakes = 3x, 5 = 5x and 6 or more = 100x the bet. That top prize is the largest single figure in the table.

At our 50 USD stake, six scatters would pay 5,000 USD on their own, and twelve lollipops 2,500 USD – figures that give a sense of how far the published ceiling sits above the paytable.

The Free Spins

Scatters open the bonus round, and in our session the game announced 10 free spins. During the round a single spin with tumbling wins paid 1,250 USD, or 25x the bet.

SlotCatalog lists the free spins as a round with multipliers. We did not see a multiplier symbol in our captures, so we cannot describe how they are applied; the 25x spin above came from ordinary pay-anywhere wins that kept refilling.

The screen changes slightly for the bonus. A green FREESPINS badge replaces the normal spin button on the right-hand panel, and a TOTAL WIN field appears under the grid to add up the whole round. The trigger itself is announced on a full-screen board inside the market stall: “Congratulations! You won 10 freespins.”

How the Maximum Win Is Reached

The largest prizes in the table are 100x for six scatters and 50x for twelve lollipops, far below the 6,853x ceiling that Onlyplay publishes. The gap has to be closed by long tumble chains, where one spin pays several times as new symbols fall in, and by the free spins round with the multipliers that SlotCatalog lists. It is a game where most spins return little and a small number of spins carry the whole result.

What Our Session Showed

The base game gave frequent small returns. Most wins were built from the low candy suits and paid between 0.4x and 1.5x, and several spins paid in more than one step as the grid refilled. The balance moved between roughly 9,180 and 9,960 USD over the base-game captures.

The picture changed in the bonus: the balance stood at 8,432.50 USD during the free spins while the 1,250 USD win was still on the screen. A single bonus spin had paid more than every base-game win in our captures added together.

Volatility and Return

High volatility fits the table: the low symbols return less than the stake on eight or nine, while the big prizes sit at 12+ symbols and in the six-scatter payout. A 95.50% RTP is slightly below the market average.
