The Library Overdue is a gothic slot published by Hacksaw Gaming and built by its studio partner Kitsune Studios, released on 13 July 2026. A Library That Should Have Closed

The reels stand in a stone archway inside a derelict library, shelves receding into the dark on both sides and papers scattered across the floor. A hooded figure in purple robes stands on the right holding a book that glows, and a single eye watches from the keystone above the grid.

The symbols are pages and people: 10, J, Q, K and A printed on torn parchment, and four character portraits – a blue-lit woman, a red vampire, a green creature and the librarian herself. Purple FS tiles with spilling treasure are the scatters.

StackWays: The Reels Change Height

The word STACKWAYS™ is printed above the grid, and the mechanic is visible on every spin. Each reel can be a different height, and a row of numbers under the grid shows exactly how tall each one currently is.

Our screenshots caught two states. In one the counters read 3, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1; in another, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2. Multiply those heights together and you have the number of ways that spin is paying – which is how a modest-looking grid reaches a published maximum of 100,000 ways.

Five of the best character pay 3x the bet on one way. The card symbols pay less than a third of the stake. Both figures have to be tiny, because a high-ways spin can carry the same symbol across hundreds of paths at once.

What A Full Grid Is Worth

Our most striking screenshot shows the whole grid filled with parchment A symbols, framed in glowing pink, with the win counter reading 1,093.50 at a €15 bet – almost 73x the stake from the cheapest symbol in the game.

That single number explains the entire design better than any feature list. Five A symbols on one way pay 4.50; the same symbol filling every position pays two hundred times that, because the ways count does the work. A quieter spin at a €50 bet, with A symbols across four reels, paid 360.00 – 7.2x.

Free Spins And A Level Meter

The FS scatters trigger the round, and our screenshot caught three of them landing across the bottom and middle of the grid. Inside the round a vertical scale appears down the left edge of the frame, numbered from 10 at the top down to 0.

That is a level meter rather than a spin counter – the spins themselves are tracked separately in the bottom bar, which read FREE SPINS 8 with a running TOTAL WIN of €270.00. Slot catalogues list additional free spins, a changing reel set and stacks among the features, so the meter is almost certainly governing how tall the reels are allowed to grow as the round progresses.

Who Actually Made It

Worth clearing up, because the data sheets disagree with the lobby. Slot catalogues credit Kitsune Studios as the developer, while all six casinos we checked list the game under Hacksaw. Both are right: Kitsune builds games that Hacksaw publishes and distributes, so the game arrives in a casino under the Hacksaw name. It is the same arrangement Hacksaw has with several of its partner studios.

What The Bet Changes

Everything scales with the stake. Our screenshots were taken at €15 and €50. At the 0.10 minimum five librarians pay 30 cents and our full-grid spin would have been worth about €7.30; at the 100 maximum that same spin is worth €7,290. The multiples – 3x for five librarians, 73x for the full grid – hold at every level.
