How we rate games

Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Our editors can adjust a score after playing the game. Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

Wolf Land: Hold and Win Overview

Wolf Land: Hold and Win is a Playson slot released on 25 July 2023. It plays on a 5x4 grid with 25 fixed paylines, set on a moonlit mountain with pine forests and a full moon hanging over the logo. SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 95.66% (the game comes in several RTP versions), medium-high volatility and a maximum win of 3,681x the bet. Stakes run from 0.20 to 100 per spin.

A free demo was not available for embedding when we updated this page: the launch link published for the game did not resolve to a playable build.

The Symbols

The reels carry a forest bestiary. The premium symbols are animals: the grey wolf, a lynx, an owl, a deer and a hare, with A, K, Q and J as the lower symbols. In our screenshots the wolf heads arrive stacked, up to three high on a reel, and they complete lines together with other animals, which is how the wolf works as the game's wild.

Four Fixed Jackpots

Four jackpot plaques frame the top of the reels. At a 20.00 stake they read:

  • Grand: 60,000.00 – 3,000x the bet
  • Major: 2,000.00 – 100x
  • Minor: 1,000.00 – 50x
  • Mini: 400.00 – 20x

The Grand alone accounts for most of the 3,681x ceiling, so the top outcome of the game is a Grand landing inside a feature that is already paying.

Moons and the Boost Symbol

The bonus symbols are full moons with cash values printed on them. In one of our spins the middle reel filled with moons worth 80.00, 80.00 and 100.00 – 4x, 4x and 5x the 20.00 bet – with a BOOST moon between them. SlotCatalog tags the game with Hold and Win, a cash collector, a mystery symbol and respins; the moon values are what the Hold and Win round collects.

Free Spins

The free spins open with a clear statement on the intro screen: 8 FREE SPINS, and “More Boost and Bonus symbols are added to the reels!” The illustration shows what that means in practice – moons worth 5x, 8x and 10x, Minor and Major jackpot moons and a Boost moon, all sitting on the same reel strip.

Our round ended on a TOTAL WIN of 840.00 at the 20.00 stake – 42x the bet – with the wolf resting on top of the reels and coins pouring across the screen.

What Our Base Spins Showed

  • 188.00 (9.4x): three stacked wolves on reels 2 and 3 joined a column of deer on the neighbouring reels.
  • 160.00 (8x): a full stack of three wolves on the first reel carried a set of Qs across several lines.

Both wins came from stacked wolves rather than from the top animals alone, which fits the medium-high volatility: the base game is carried by stacks, while the real money sits in the moons and jackpots.

Graphics and Setting

The grid sits in a dark wooden frame in front of snow-capped mountains and a purple night sky. The animals are painted in detail, the wolves with glowing yellow eyes, and the letters are carved in stone. A lightning button next to the spin button turns quick play on and off.

Who It Is For

Wolf Land: Hold and Win suits players who like the classic Hold and Win formula with a clean set of fixed jackpots. The Grand at 3,000x is a real target, the free spins load the reels with extra moons, and stacked wolves keep the base game ticking over.
